Brushless Supervader -
12.18.2008, 08:42 PM
I'm starting this thread for my next project. I am getting the MMM combo for xmas, and so I have my old electrical system with nowhere to go but in my evader! I'm going to cram a Fiegao 8L motor, mamba max and 5s protek lipo in this thing. My plan so far is to use the stock transmission, with a mod 1 spur and pinion set. I forget what count the spur is, since Im getting it off a friend, but the pinion is 10t. If worse comes to worse and the motor will not fit, I will make a custom aluminum plate/motor mount for the extra space. Since I realized that it wasn't the smartest thing leaving the 8l hanging off the back where its subject to all sorts of abuse(wheelies!) I am using a 1/8" thick 2 inch wide piece of flatstock that will be bolted to the chassis from underneath the evader, and will be bent up past the back of the 8l and past the front of the bulkhead to keep everything nice and safe. using the speed calculator, my top speed will be 51mph! All I need is about 20 inches of 2 inch flatstock, 1/8th inch thick. everything else, I have

as for volting down and gearing up, its going to be made from spare parts. I have no more brushes for the brushed motor
for it, so, why not? and iif that gets destroyed, I will find something else to do with it. Of course, I could always program the mamba to down the throttle.

i think you made it a little too big. if you nosedive with that thing or hit a steep jump it may have a hard time with it.

Over kill on the bolts... why dont you use the holes that are already in the chassis with longer screws?
and that is just a tad too much... added weight and not exactly aerodynamic

its actually not that heavier than before... but i could see where it could be a bit nose heavy... hopefully all the electronics sitting towards the rear will help to balance it out

well, I just took the evader, taped a heavy dog toy to the back(to simulate the electronics) and started chucking it around the yard, and to my surprise the nose did not want to dip at all!

i hate to say it but u will not get far before u destroy that diff gear or burn up the diff, the balls will melt the plastic in the diff. I know i had my evader up to 55 with a 3s pack and a mamba max 5700kv system, i did every upgrade known to man excpept the aluminum diff gear which only one person has one and this manurfacturing them but only got as far as the prototype as there was no demand for a 60dollar gear shipped. i have the brushless evader video on u tube with the gps runs and the crash at the end. i have since moved to the rustler jaco foams as they are larger than the old ones in the vid. i could not drive it with out burring up diffs from the inside out unless i babied the throttle which u could never get to top speed. i since have sold the mamba system and just have the built up roller on the shelf as i built a crt pro brushless on 5s and that project kind of broke the bank so its gonna be a while before i figure out what im gonna do with it. just a heads up i would not expect great things from this tranny as it will either burn up or strip under high power.
