Forward or Reverse?

I just installed the 2200kv Combo in my e-revo. The throttle imputs were reversed, so I changed my transmitter to match the direction. However, the truck behaves as though it is still reversed. Let me explain... When going forward after going in reverse, there is a delay in the power (similar to the full neutral, delay then run in reverse). In reverse, the car hauls ***. I can not control the settings with my transmitter (Airtronics MX3). I changed my transmitter settings to: reverse settings at 30% and forward at 125%. The power imput is unchanged and there is still more power in reverse than in going forward. Should I just swap wires? If so, white and black? Here is the current wiring:

Swap 2 of the motor wires. Then change your transmitter back to the way it was and recalibrate it to the MMM.

Just swap any 2 of the 3, does not matter which. It will reverse the direction of the motor. You should have the green led on when going forward, and the red on in reverse. Sounds like you had that initially, but the truck was going the wrong direction. They really need to make this clearer in the instruction.

I have the wiring squared away. Thing runs like a beast (I'm breaking parts to prove it). Next question, I'm not able to calibrate the ESC... what to do? What am i doing you ask? Turn on the transmitter, hold full throttle forward, turn on the ESC and wait for the "extra" beeps. It only beeps with the starting beeps and not the following calibrating beeps. When I let go of the throttle, I get the link confirmation (three beeps).

You need to reset all of the setting on your radio for the throttle channel. Sounds like you have the end points on the throttle channel set for less than 100%. Or some sort of expo setting changed, or maybe you do not have the throttle trim centered.

hmmm... I'll have to check that. I know it's at 100% now, not sure about when I tried to calibrate. One concern is that the trim is pushed with a lot of forward input (reverse). If a scale of 1-10, it's at a 9. I'll keep playing with it then. Thanks again.

Zero (center) the trim, that is your problem.

We answer that question specifically, but it is kind of buried in some long text, which is why we say to read the manual in its entirety. But to help clear things up a bit more, do you think maybe we should put it in the FAQ at the back?

We are working on revisions now for the Driver's Ed Guide, so this is the perfect time to add anything that would help make things clearer; it's better if a user can solve a problem on their own, this way they won't be inconvenienced by having to call Tech Support and can get running much quicker. Plus it's one less phone call for me Thanks!

I have a feeling that most people do not even read the manual... An addition to the troubleshooting/FAQ section may be helpful, or add it to the quick start instructions in the front???

I say put this in a quick start sheet.

To recalibrate your ESC you have to plug your esc to castle link and reset it to factory, then it can be recalibrated.

Instruction manuals are always a good way to explain the way things should work. (i.e. plug in the battery, turn on the switch, power comes on). Problems will get lost in instructions because problems don't happen to everyone. The instructions should be the "best case scenario, if everything goes smoothly."

I like the troubleshooting section idea. Then a person can say, "I followed the instructions, now it does or doesn't do this...". Regarding the manual and reading it. I did read it front to back when I bought my first castle motor (about 8 months ago). I went off the memory of that to get this one running. I'd imagine that most of the folks that are buying your product are repeat customers. From what I read in these forums, many will use the motor over and over, taking from one car/truck to the next, re-calibrating it everytime. Unless something goes wrong, they never look at the book. The troubleshooting with really help these folks out.

I'd take the post that you get from these forurms (which are not only an amazing tool for customers, but even better for the manufacture as you get immediate feedback from the customers. Not something I have access to in my industry) and create your troubleshooting/FAQs page. Rather than put it in the manual, I'd put it on the web and make it more interactive... searchable, and easy to update. As you see these different posts, you update the webpage.
