I run the center one, its night and day even with the stock springs- made my car steer on power almost to the point of oversteering.

rule of thumb is to get the center SD first then try the front- the center unit basically guarantee's an improvement in steering (on and off power). the fronts usually aren't needed after you drive with the center

As BB16 says "night and day", at the track you'll be very impressed...on road not so much

Does the Losi smart diff offer more then Mike's Slipperantional?
Has anyone run both to compare them to each other?

THey are not comparable- mikes diff has a slipper, but not tunable action- Losi smart diff has no slipper but you can adjust its action

Like comparing hand grenades to crayons.

I am still trying to figure the smart diff out. First, i tried it with the kyosho plastic spur. It really did improve cornering, but I had no on power drive, even with the preinstalled springs. I then came to the conclusion that the plastic spur gear was the problem and it was. With the losi plastic spur gear over the steel insert, i got all of my on power drive back, but lost steering until the car was moving pretty slowly. Any spring set up recommendations for an indoor clay track? I've had the best luck with the front one way/ center spool insert, but I have already blown a one way bearing.

I'm using the smart diff in the front and center of my carbon 8ight, and loving it

i ran all last season and regressed them afew times, after pulling them apart this winter there is almost no ware in the brake buckets

afew things

- people say you have no or poor brakes with a smart diff - thats not true, you still have 4 wheel brakes and it stops just as fast as it would with a standard diff

- running 2 torsion diff is a waste of money - all i can say is try it, my buggy handles like a touring car, turn in is amazing, there is no under steer even when powering out of a corner, it simply goes where you point it

- torsion diffs wont hold up to brushless power - mine are holding up just fine with 6cell lipo 2500mah 35c with a tekin 1400kv buggy system

- torsion diffs make you car run hotter - with mine the temps went down alittle due to less wheel spin

- torsion diffs weigh more - losi's smart diff is 1gram lighter than a standard diff with the lite weight outputs

- you have to use stock spurs - I'm running a kyosho 48T nylon gear with no problems

- you can put silicone in torsion diffs - i wouldn't, they are made to use grease and changing that out for fluid slows the diff action down alot

if anyone has any questions please ask

How do you test that the diffs are lockinng? I can easily hold full throttle with the rear wheels planted. This is the case no matter what i've tried.

i could tell from the 30ft 4wheel burn out marks

nothing like ruining a bran new set of tires in 2 seconds to prove you have more power than your buddy

did you litely sand the brake cups before you installed it? or did you just buy them rtr?

(just scuff them alittle)

i can think of 4 problems you could have

1 your springs may not be seated all the way (losi's springs are crap, they are wound to big for the holes most of the time, i had to open most of mine up to make them work properly

2 you may have to much grease, keep in mind that the plates have to move and if they have to force grease around to do it that will slow down the reaction alot and could keep them from fully enganging

3 you could have the wrong springs installed, start with the softest spring and only add heaver one's if you are having under steer problems when on power or too much wheel spin (heaver springs = slower reaction and more power to the front wheels for longer)

4 you could have the wrong traction ramps installed, 120 Degree ramps are smoother, more lineal feeling but hold less power because they have a smaller brakeing surface and a longer brakeing window( they are only really useful in the front) 90 Degree ramps are harsher and tend to transfer power faster ( they don't feel lineal )

i hope this helped, let me know if you have any more questions
