What do you think about these settings to start with? I am running the Medusa 36-50-3300 with a MMM and one SPC 15c 2s pack and a PQ 2s 30c pack. Both are 5000mah. Let me know what you think before I run this. I got everything set up and ready to go. I finally got my MMM today!!! I am just going to be screwing around in a black top parking lot with my Anacondas. Also when I plugged in the ESC it said it was not the latest version and I needed to go to Castle to download it. When I got to Castle is said it was for the Phonix line of ESC. Thanks

Your settings look like the stock settings for a MM or MMM except for the 10% drag break. That's as good as any place to start. If I was to change anything I'd set the Lipo cutoff to custom. I'd set it at 3.2 - 3.4 volts per cell. I also prefer the forward with brake lock-out. That means the esc has to sit for a second or two in neutral before it goes to reverse. With the fwd/brake/rev setting it goes into reverse as soon as the vehicle stops.

As far as Castle software their web site is rather confussing. The software that is labled Pheonix also has the updates all the Castle ESCs. So download that one and it will update your MM or MMM.

I changed my motor timing to high (15) and my punch to 30%. I was just out running it. Any link for the castle update would be appreciated. Everytime I plug in the MMM it is telling me to go the castle site for a download. My firmware updates is disabled it says.

Did you download the latest Castle Link software? It will contain the firmware updates for the controllers. That ESC is a whole different animal on version 1.20 so I would try to get the new version.

As to the settings, I too would opt for the reverse lockout to help save your tranny (WOT into reverse is "bad").

Running 15 degrees timing will make the motor accelerate harder, but also run hotter. Not a problem as long as things don't get too hot. I believe Medusa recommends 8 - 13 degrees for their motors.

No I am downloading it now. I just put the disc in that came with it. I did switch out the reverse function as you both advised. Thanks

Thanks I am downloading it now. I was told 15degrees for timing would be okay?? Temps outside now are about 45 degrees. I will be keeping a eye on temps when running.

lol, I always simply chuck the disc as it is usually outdated. When you go to rev 1.20, you'll see how different the startup routine is. And I would back timing off a bit; the Medusa has enough torque/speed that any addition due to increased timing is not really worth the added heat...

So you think I should set it back to 10? I raised it to 15. The timing that is.

Just the "narrowness" of the neutral range. The narrower it is, the earlier it starts to move with just a slight touch of the throttle.

I would, but I try to set my stuff up so it runs as cool as possible without sacrificing performance. It won't hurt anything to keep it higher (as long as temps are ok), but you don't get a lot of extra output. Keep it higher if you want, just monitor temps and maybe experiment to see which setting gives you the temps and performance you want.
