Locking into second gear is pretty simple - If you search BrianG has an explanation.

A centre diff - well you can use the traxxas one - there are not many and not bolt on 1/8th scale centre diff kits / mounts for the revo.

You can go both ways on this - either keep the servo and run mechanical breaks or you can "lock" the trasnsmission and use the MMM to slow it down.

There are pros and cons with either choice.

That will work and then you just need to setup the mixing on the radio... BrianG is the expert on this...

I'd set it up for locked into 2nd gear with just fixing the servo linkage but at some point you will want to remove all the 1st gear internals to reduce rotating mass.

*** Woops I was thinking of my conversion which uses a switching servo rather than the revo transmission which does the whole internal thingy...

Listen to linc he knows about trannies

This is not very clear Chris, I think you need to proofread. You cannot lock a revo in 1st or 2nd by adjusting a linkage. You may be thinking of the old emaxx 2 speed?

Anyway, to the OP: with brushless it is usually best to lock the tranny is 2nd gear, and then use motor brakes. You can only use motor brakes if you lock the tranny, as it has a one-way bearing in it. I would do the lock and remove all of the mechanical brake hardware.

Since it has a center diff you may want to put thicker fluid in it. This will help with braking, and also help with the front tires unloading from the increased power and punch that a brushless setup has over the nitro engine.

If any of this is not clear or you would like some addl info just reference this.

Welcome to the forums!!!

Are you in LA? There are a few of us in the NOLA area...

Ditching the servo and mech brakes is a good idea. Did you find BrianG's info on locking the revo in 2nd? I think it is in the revo section, as a sticky.

The traxxas center diff just replaces the output shaft, you will still need to mod the 2nd gear spur to lock it up. Pretty easy to do, just filing some slots on the gear to put screws in.
