Axial SCX10 -
04.25.2009, 07:38 PM
I'm looking for a couple of Axial SCX10 scalers, so I'm searching for the best deal. RPP hobby has them for $239 with free shipping. Has anyone found any better deals?

Tower Hobbies...
SCX10 is $259.99
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXWDJ7&P=ML
Add Super Saver Membership to cart $9.99
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJD48&P=ML
Use Coupon Code 011N6 for $50 off $250-299.99 order
Free shipping on orders over $150 with Super Saver Membership
Total Cost: $219.98 shipped for 1 truck
If you want to buy more than 1 truck, complete the order for the first, then make a separate order for the second. Use the same coupon code and you'll get the second for $209.99 shipped.

Also, FYI, the coupon code I listed will only work if you are a super saver club member.

I say support the small guy. Tower will always get there's but RCP and RPP are both small shops like Mike here with excellent customer service.

I like supporting companies I like, but in the current economic situation every penny counts.

I've purchased from both RPP and RCP in the past with great service as well. It's a tough choice to make whether or not to support a small business and pay more or buy from a larger company and save some money.
I kind of look at it like this...what can the company I'm ordering from provide me better than another? If it's a part that may require more detailed information, it's worth the extra $ from a smaller, more customer oriented business. With something like a RTR or kit that is sold at numerous dealers, the cheapest dealer with reputable service gets my money...unless my LHS can get it for me faster than buying online.
With the economy as it is these days, most folks are pinching pennies. If I'm paying more for the same product from one vendor over another, I better have a good reason other than to be charitable. I don't know about you guys, but my wife would kick my ass if I was constantly trying to support small companies and paying a lot more than I needed to for common parts/vehicles.

If 20 bucks extra is killing you on an RC purchase, your priorities should be elsewhere. With the kit, RPP and RCP both post daily in rccrawler.com, and if there are any problems, they will help.
There are items I can get cheaper at tower with my discount than from Mike, but I would rather support Mike.
Tower has good service, but they won't bend over backwards for you like Mike and many others.

Like I said, I've purchased from RCP and RPP before and had no complaints.
I can buy a SCX10 at almost any dealer. What do I get for my extra $20? If there's a problem with the kit, I'd call Axial, not the dealer. Besides, most of us on this forum are intelligent enough to search online and find the answer than to depend on them for an answer.
Places like RCP, RPP and here at RC-Monster sell parts not available anywhere else and that's where I buy those parts.
FWIW, just a comparison...in 2008 and so far in 2009 I've spent:
Tower Hobbies $1256
Colonial Photo & Hobby (My LHS) $3053
Just shows you I do support the little guy...maybe not the little guy you'd like me to throw my money at, but they're still a small business...no online sales and just a single shop. So, if you're going to get pissy about someone ordering from Tower, you're barking up the wrong tree with me.

I was simply stating that saving every penny is a good thing right now. So next time feel free to keep your advise to yourself. Yes, I know about rccrawler.com and I have been into crawling for years so I think I can handle the kit on my own.

Maybe you need to drop the sensitivity level down a little bit. This is a public forum in which you solicited advice. Don't get mad when you don't like the advice.
I offered my opinion, take it or leave it.
Skellyo, I know you support others as I have gotten advice from you before. I meant nothing negative toward you.

Yes, you are right I did ask advise and you gave irrelevant advise to the question. So unless you have any relevant advise there is no need for you to post anything in this thread.
