Unhappy 2MP4P......(TOO MUCH POWER FOR PLASTIC)!! lol - 04.27.2009, 10:57 AM

My truck is so heavy and that motor is so strong I can no longer use plastic wheels. I strip a new rear wheel EVERY RUN!! Yesterday was no different.
I need some good looking (LARGE) aluminum wheels so I can play for more than 10 minutes before I shred another platic wheel hub!
Any suggestions???

There are some companies out there making aluminum wheels i think mike stocks some. You could also try the traxxas 17mm hexes and rims, they have an extra cut out on the drive hex that is mirrored on the rim to spread the load over more surface area. Or you could try making your truck lighter after the pull off. The two lipos will help with that alot.

Get 23mm adapters and wheels with 23mnm hexes. You will have a tough time stripping those.

Yeah, I was going to say get bigger hexes/wheels. Bigger tires may help pu tthe power down too.

I, and most everyone here, have problems running 14mm hexes. Its almost impossible with the BL power of today. Definitely going to 17mm or 23mm will make it much tougher to strip out, not saying that you cant...

23mm!! Adaptors?? I didn't even know they existed for the E-Maxx. I heard of the 17mm... I'm on the hunt now... Thanks!

P.S. It was my crazy goal to make my truck kind of heavy... (I know I'm pretty backwards lol). I'm old school and I think my monster truck should be big, heavy, and strong instead of light as a feather and fast.
I have my cars and buggy for top speeds etc. Thanks for the advice though.

17mm is pretty durable and the wheel selection is better.

I have yet to strip a 17mm, tho I haven't nailed them as much as your are looking to. A big factor seems to also be cranking the nut quite tight and not letting the wheel have a chance to slip.

Thanks. I'm doing research as we speak. I also learned the hardway about making sure the nuts are supertight. I even locktight them each time I put the nuts on just to make sure they don't come off.
Also fellas please get 1 of your forum buddies. Everybody has been really cool thus far, but this Paralyzed cat is reeeeally starting to annoy me... lol.
