Upgrading brushless system - 01.15.2006, 08:38 PM

I want to upgrade my truck to an "overbuilt" brushless system, because my truck will be very heavy. I'm looking for something like a high turned xl motor, and a better brushless controller (rated for more amps).
I'm also looking for a lipo battery system (this is where the truck gets heavy). I run a pretty large BPP chassis, so I think I fit in quite a bit of lipo. Call me crazy, but I want 22.2 volt (18.5 nimh cell equivelent), 20,000 mah power system. I do indeed have the money to dish this out, so be creative:p .

I don't want to pull alot of amps, so maybe an 11xl motor and a 12020 esc?

If I find a system that works out for me, I will be having a Feigao 8xl (run very little), a 9920 (new, never even programmed), 2 pairs of fusion 8 cell straight line gp3300batteries (1 pair is a 1.75 volt spend $180 on it, and the other pair was 120). PM me if interested. Or give me an estimate of how much I can get out of all this on ebay.

Here is my truck so you can get an idea of its weight, and configuration (esc hasn't been mounted):

If you want all this power and such. I would say a 3695 controller. Run a 12 xl wander on 8s lipo. Have great power speed and run time.

Peace!

Thank you.

I was looking at www.finedesignrc.com at lipos, but where will i find the 8s batteries? How many Mah will the 8 cells give me? Also, why would i need a 36 cell controller for a voltage rated at the power of 19 cells?

i wouldnt go with a 8s packs. i would go with 2 4s packs in series. max amps could possible make you some custom packs or you could check out tanic, thunderpower, or fma.

squee has the idea. You can get most charger for a 4 s pack to. Mah is not everything. With a 12 xl you won't need but 8000 mah to run a long time. 2 x 4s packs would be above the 9920 or 12020 capacity. 8 x 3.7v= 29.6 volts the 12 xl is not amp hungery motor. I ran a 9xl on 7020 esc. With this set up you probably looking at an hour play time.

Yup, checked out maxamps. Great site.

I run for hours on end the more mah, the merrier! Thats why I have have such a beefed up drive train for my new truck (UM trans in alloy case, titanium front center cvd, rc alloy rear center cvd, Sm f/r cvds, sm 8 spy diffs).

Okay, i found the general are of batteries i desire. I want the total # of cells (not just per side) to be 6s4p or the maxamps 4000 cells. Thats 22.2 volts total, and 16000 mah total, I can shell out for $400.

So i'll end up buying the 3s 4000mah pack, then ask for a custom 1s4p pack. I'll put the 3s on the motor side, and the 1s4p on the opposite side of the motor. What charger will I use to charge these two different packs?

Who else runs lipo?

So will a 12xl and 12020 work for this amount of batteries?

Thanks again guys

Thank you.

Now I just need to decide what motor and esc to get.

If anyone is interested I might sell:

Feigao 8xl motor (has 3.5mm female gold connectors soldered on): $80

9920 esc (has 3.5mm female gold connectors on motor wires, 4mm female on battery): $185

Fusion pair of 8 cell gp3300. Matched at 1.75 volts. Deans plugs installed $135

Fusion pair of 8 cell zapped gp3300. 4mm female plugs installed $90
