3 motors, 2 cars, and two esc........ -
04.29.2009, 01:26 PM
Hello I have now 3 motors, 1 neu 1515 3d (1360kv), 1 neu 1515 2.5 (1650kv), 1 medusa 60mm 2000kv, and 5s lipos.
I have a kyosho kanai 1/8 buggy with a MMM
I have a e-maxx upgraded with ezrun 150A
What setup should I use for my cars on 5s?????
Regards

I would put the 1515 2.5 in the emaxx, and the 3d in the buggy and gear it up. The buggy will not mind the taller gearing as the tires are smaller and the overall weight is lower.
Both systems should run cool. You could put the medusa 60mm in the buggy and gear it down to reasonable speeds on 5s. Not sure if that will run as cool as the 3d. The 1515 2.5 is a good 5-6s motor and will move the emaxx well.

Ok thanks,
I can gear the buggy for 42mph with the medusa with 13/46 and I can gear the buggy with the 3d with 19/46, but with the 3d i am going to obtain less runtime??? or more runtime? Mys lipos are zhippy 5s 5000mha

Since you have the equipment I would try both. The medusa with that gearing should be fine, not sure how well the neu will like the taller gearing. It is a 1515 so it does have more torque than the medusa so it may work fine. Report back with your findings, as I am interested to see what will work better.

Hello I have just run the neu 1515 3d on 5s and with a gearing of 19/46, when I run 20minutes the motor comes to 158ºf, and it is a lot, I think that I can run the 1515 2.5 on the buggy and the 1515 3d on the e-maxx,
What do you think about it???????'

I have a 1515 2.5D that I have run in a REVO and now a truggy. IMO it would be overkill in a buggy, I would try the medusa in the buggy.

My buggy rtr with a zippy 5000mha 5s and the neu 1515 and mmm weight 8.15 lbs.
The medusa in the buggy on 5s get ot on 13/46 and 15/46.... I think that it should run well..... But the neu 1515 3d on 5s with 19/46 get hot after 20minutes of hard use, about 158ºf....
What can I do with mys cars????
Can anyone say to me what setups need to use in the esc? I am runing with 10 timming and punch control on 30%

honestly, 158* after 20 minutes of hard running isn't that bad. Under 160* is safe as damage starts to occur around 180*. Braking heats things up pretty good so if your doing a lot of braking that could be the issue. How hot is the Medusa on the buggy? I def think that would be the ticket for the buggy, get it geared right and speed wise you'd kill a nitro, however on a track, speed is only part of the equasion

Try dropping another tooth on the pinion, that's pretty fast

make sure your screws aren't to long, if they touch the windings that will cause a lot of heat and ruin the motor. If the esc and battery are still cool and the motor is hot it may be undergeared. You may have some binding in the drivetrain, and it may be your driving style as well. Another thing is that your center diff may need thicker fluid, you may be unloading the front tires and causing the motor to rev high which would cause heat. Seeing that your getting hot with either setup I would look into the mounting screws, diff fluid, and drivetrain binding
