Best al bulks for the savage?

As I am getting closer to starting the 1/5 scale savage project I was wondering which al bulks to get for it...

I have heard that the Golden Horizons bulks are nice, and retain the ez access feature that the X bulks have. I have also looked at the flm bulks, a little cheaper than the GH, but they do not have the ez access feature.

Mainly looking to use al bulks as they should keep the ring and pinion meshed better as they should not flex.

Any other info, experiences or links will as always be greatly appreciated.

We have very good experience with the FLM Hybrids. Never had a ringgear/pinion issue.

Maybe they are not what you're looking for (obviously no easy diff acces) just thought I share our experience.

No easy diff acces never bothered us, it's not like on a truggy where you might want to change diff oil between races... the Savage has always been more of a set-and-forget thing, diff-wise.

Would you say the flm bulks fit together nicely? I have a set of the 1/8 diff hybrid emaxx flm bulks, and the fit leaves a little to be desired...

I can usually get the diffs setup correctly the first time, so the ez access is not a huge deal for me. Just figured I try to find out the pros and cons before I bought anything!

Well, considering they are FLM, you could say the have a perfect fit, if you know what mean

Seriously, they are okay. My mate had to put the dremel to a set once, to get the Flextek arms to fit perfect, but it was acceptable, IIRC.

I had the maxx hybrids as well, and may other FLM parts with an "almost" perfect fit. Know what you're talking about, but the Savage Hybrids were okay. Burrs in the hinge-pin holes and stuff like that go without saying

Good to know, sounds like they will compare to the emaxx bulks I have.

Ok, if they hold up to your 1521 they may work for me. Did you have any issues getting the stock parts to fit them?

No issues, which is why I liked them! No drilling, grinding or filing to get a good fit. Sadly, that's becoming more unusual in the aftermarket parts dept.

Yeah, I hear you on that! I had to do alot of work to make rpm arms fit on the flm maxx hybrid bulks. And shimming the diffs was a PITA. I think I will give the GH bulks a try, found them on ebay for 115 shipped for a pair. Unless someone want to link me to a better price? Does tower have any coupons right now?
