Castle Link/iPhone - 05.13.2009, 05:38 PM

My question to Castle is would it be possible to create an iPhone app that would let one run Castlelink on an iPhone? That would be a really nice way to tune an ESC at the track.

Thanks.

What about just getting a netbook. They can be had for less than 250 and are more versatile. I doubt CC will be doing an iphone app seeing as they don't even have mac support at this point.

Any online settings app would be great for any wireless device like a phone or itouch.. I would love it.

The only problem is, the esc has to be plugged into something, so a seperate device would have to be created, probably costing quite a bit.

I wonder if something like a palm life drive could be used? I just traded for one and that would be a cool use for it!

The big problem would be hooking it up to some kind of wifi, 3g, or cell phone network to transfer information to it. That would requre some kind of decice that plugs into the esc, or possibly a small component on the esc itself. It would probably have to have a screen/buttons so you could connect to a network. If you go that far you might as well just have a programming card..

However, the Idea is still badass. Maybe a wire could connect the esc to a iphone/itouch?

There's no USB port on the iphone though. Maybe someone could make an adapter to the charge port on the iphone?

Thats true. However, the iphone has, what, a 30 pin connector? I have not seen or heard of an accesory that can't be used on the iphone. People also do crazy stuff with the software. If you haven't heard about jailbreaking iphones, google it. I have done it. Not only can you change all the themes, but you can download emulators, widgets, extra apps that apple doesn't approve of, and much more. People have run a version of linux on an iphone. Along with Wolfenstein 3d, I have a gameboy advance emulator. You can also have tons more - NES, Mame, Genesis, GBC, and even a playstation 1 emulator.

I would argue this point since my iphone served as my computer for 6 weeks last summer! I don't see how a netbook can be more versatile unless your going to write papers, even then I can write them as an e-mail and send it to someone with a printer if I needed to, and it's a phone, calculator, calendar, has it's own internet connection, can play games, music, movies, serve as a gps, a map, give me weather and stock updates, get my e-mail, etc, etc, etc......

I would love to have an iphone CastleLink App!!! I would settle for a mac version of Castle Link though, as soon as I can I'm getting a macbook, I'm sick of this damn HP laptop that keeps dying! I'm sure with all the computer geniuses in the world it wouldn't be to hard of an app to make. As far as the adapter goes I don't think that would be to difficult, just need an adapter that is female on both sides since the cord for the iphone is already a usb.

Found this- http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=3480211
Plug in iphone to its 30pin side and plug the other end of the adapter into the usb cable for castle link to the castle link unit itself. Adaption taken care of- software is a different story.

A female/female usb adapter would work. No need to fork out $30 bucks...

WHy make the castle link proprietary when you can have a program box that would work for all of them
