Tekin RX8 - 05.26.2009, 09:50 AM

I am converting a kanai 3 buggy, and thought I would go with a Castle creations 2650 combo... But after seeing a lot of issues, I have been thinking about a Tekin RX8 combo.. Anybody running these? Any opinions would be appreciated... Thanks

What issues with the 2650?

Myself and 5 others run the 2650 combo's in our buggies flawlessly on the track on 3 or 4s. No problems here, we love them!

Try the Tekin if you want tho.

Smoking the esc from what I have been reading... I have been researching for a few weeks now... If that is not the case, thats fine with me, looks like a good product.

What are the setups running that are burning up esc?

I run 3s geared 15/48 for 41mph and everything is well in temps range when I hit the LVC.
I also run 4s gear 13/48 for 42mph and my temps are normal there as well.

I get 13-15 minutes on a 4500mah pack on the track with these setups.

shoot ive been running 6s on my MMM's from the start and have had no problems with the v3. run a couple 5-8 min quals and a 10-15 min main with my rc8 every other weekend for the past...... 3-4 months maybe? just make sure you use high c rating packs and you will be fine

If you want to race and run 4s,5s or 6s, get the tekin and one of there lower kv motors. Otherwise you can't go wrong with the castle. 4s and the 2650 will not give you as much runtime as say a T8 2050 on 4s, which should be enough power on almost any track.

The castle system is as solid as anything else out there, they just sell more, so more are likely to burn up. Also newbs are more apt to buy a castle than a tekin, so user problems are more likely. Used as per the manual and with good batteries, the castle esc is as good as the tekin, durability wise. The tekin has that hybrid sensored setup that should make it better for racing. I haven't tryed either of these, I have a mamba max, but i expect the same good service when i get my monster

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise
