Going to the sand dunes with the MMM - 06.17.2009, 07:06 PM

I'm going to go to the dunes next weekend. I have a truggy and buggy with MMM esc. In the past before the MMM, I would always just disconnect the fan on what ever esc if it had one, then go for it. With the MMM I'm a little unsure. It is kind of an open design. Does anyone have any experience in the sand?

I run in a sand pit once in a while w/no probs. Some people have put a small piece of screen over the fan

I run in the sand dunes every once in a while as well. I didn't change anything from my normal bashing set up. Just changed tires and go have fun. The electronics really get a work out so I'd keep the fan running.

What type of screen? Like a peice of stocking or something a bit stronger?

go to your local pet store, and buy a fish net with the smallest mesh you can find. then cut a piece and tape it over the fan, or wrap the whole esc.

stockings or pantyhose may work too

I was thinking panty hose might be a good screen, but I was wondering if it would be too restrictive.

I'm going to the Pismo Area. We get over there about once per year. Last year I ran the truggy with a Quark. It was a lot of fun. The MMM is so much better! Should make it even better.

We have some rustlers setup for 35-40mph and one setup for 50+mph. We run them on the hard sand. It is kind of fun because people stop and they can't believe how fast they are. Last year stuff started rusting very quickly afterwards. I still need to figure out something for that too.

Windo screen mesh works well

AS for rusting. bring a bristle brush (paint brush) and wd-40, spray the brush and brush it onto the car. will make it nice and shiny and leave a protective film of silicone- preventing rust and dirt from sticking

Go have fun, but after that don't try to open the case to look into it, that will be scary based on my experience. You know silicon chips(IC) are made from sand, now they are together again with its primitive original form.

WD40 does not have silicone in it, basically aerosol viscous oil (smells a bit like kerosene to me). The original formula had something hydrocarbon based in it, and was flammable (lets have fun with kitty, wheres the lighter!).

Back to the stocking thing, you can easily get plenty of free used stockings at the old fart's home. I prefer to buy new myself, although the clerk at Walgreens always gives me a funny look when I buy nude pantyhose and have not shaved in a while (face or legs). I will still buy new cause getting them at the decrepit palace is not my idea of a good time. First you have to yell so loud just to get the old biddy's attention, then pretend to be interested about the senior rate at golden corral. And if you can't seal the deal for the hosiery soon enough you may end up back in the room applying foot ointment and dodging crotch moths coming from god knows where... And if you sleep over you will be up at the butt crack of dawn to catch the early bird special at country kitchen. I just think throwing down a few bucks is much better for the soul than digging thru the ancient undergarment drawer looking for legging while the old bird is dropping a deuce.

I would continue but I doubt that I will ever beat Gee at misc ramblings...

That misc rambling was too much of an insight and don't you have limits as to what you will do for a hobby?
