Hobbycity-Flightmaxx sizes are a lie!

Here is the pack I just got for my rustler and other trucks

The actual size is:
144x51x34

The part I have a problem with is the width. I don't I'm going to be able to fit it in the rustler. I have the old chassis, does the VXL chassis have a wider battery slot? With some work I can fit them in the other vehicles.

I believe Hobbycity lies about the size to make it seem like they fit more vehicles, to make the sale.

I have emailed them asking the size and they refered me back to their web site.

Buyer beware, thier packs are wider then they say.

What about the weight, is that figure correct?

Some manufacturers take the size of the single cell and multiply it with the cell count in the packs to get dimensions. What they forget are the solder tabs, wires, connectors, shrink wrap etc. Besides that, there are some differences between "identical" packs that might add to +/- 1 mm.

You could always sit the lipo on its side, so that it fits that way.

The dimensions issue has been noticed though yeah- I dont think its a malicious thing done to boost sales, just a bit of bad measuring of the cells vs the whole pack including the wires, like Thomas said.

The vxl chassis is the same as the regular. You could invest in a good flat chassis like the flm...

Any lipo over 45mm wide does not fit well in a rustly/pede/slash tray, nor in the emaxx trays.

The hobbycity lipos are targeted more towards planes, so when the dimensions are wrong it's not like they're trying to screw you over.

I like Thomas's explination - they measure the cells but don't measure the finished pack.

Yeah, you usually have to look at the different packs being offered, read the posts, and do some funky probability math before you can actually figure out the width and legtth of those things.

i was able to fix my 3s 5000mah flightmaxs in my rustler vxl. all you have to do is dremel the sides of the battery slot a little. i have about 10 runs with those batteries in my rustler and the only problems i've had are completely ground down body posts and my ezrun motor running a little hot. (i put a nice dent in the original vxl motor)

That is A LOT of dremeling. You would have to take out half the plastic on each side.

I'm sure they know their packs aren't 48mm wide. I'm going to re-configure my other trucks to fit them because I also have some zippy H size packs that don't really fit anything either.

I was really hoping for a drop in for my rustler though. My one max amps I have keeps puffing a little.

I had to rant a little! and warn others, it's hard to find the correct size info on these.

yes, you have to dremel like like of each wall, but trust me, if my rustler hasn't has any chasis durability issues, than i doubt that you will. i have jumped my rustler 20ft+ into the air. i have jumped over single story houses with it. i dented the motor from the chassis hitting the ground so hard that the plastic motor mount flexed enough to let the chassis inflict a huge dent. the battery tray walls do not do much for the truck, it is the ridge on the underside of the chassis that gives the support.

you could always put the lipo in a vice a little....
