I have been in R/C for the past 23 yrs but this is my first 1/8 brushless.Big thanks also to monsterMike for all the excellent products and top notch customer service!!! Awesome! Gear up for more speed, that motor is a torque monster. Keep track of the temp and stop gearing up when temps rise. Later!

Nice - A tip for you though - put the braces back in before you run - You will have a lot of flex without and it will hurt the mesh and maybe even the motor...

Yeah the ones that say kyosho are the strr ones, try infernosonly.com. There is also a site dedicated to the inferno GT that goes through everything you will ever need to know about them.

kyosho inferno gt 2 brushless - 05.26.2009, 11:04 AM

I just finished one up this weekend. I have always wanted one but cant stand the mess of nitro. Anyway. I run my offroad 1/8 with 5s so I have a decent stock of these packs and figured i would run this on the same with a 2200kv motor.. well its not drivable to say the least.

What temps are you getting after 10min of runtime?
Are you able to make a 30min main without temp problems? (2 packs)

I will say this it is funny as hell to run electric with glow.. given the driver is as good, they dont stand a chance in hell. For anyone interested ill keep this updated and hopefully i find a combination that works.
I think a slipperential and 5s will work nicely although i may loose 3 feet on the end of the straight to the few that can tune a glow engine but thats not bad.
I did run a 4s pack with the 2 speed and it seemed to be a good match but i really dont want to have to buy another pack size. (trying for 1 pack fits all)

So if any of you are running these cars and have input let me know I really want to get this car running well.

I dont race mine i just converted it as i had some spare pieces laying around. It runs a center diff and 2200kv MMM combo on 6s geared 23/50. I have no temp issues at all and it runs for ages. The batteries are two 3s 5000 flight power packs that i mounted onto the stone guards on each side. I simply put a strap through the existing hole in the left guard and made an equal hole in the right one. So far no problems at all and flipped it end to end about four times with no shell the other day. The batteries do need some better securing though. When the castle conversion kit comes out i will put them on it.

Performance wise i can stab full throttle at any speed and watch the back end step out down the street. its so much fun

I can get a 25 off mike but i think a two speed would be really quick and help down low as well. Like this one here. http://www.rccars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3296. However my next full on project will be the Ofna DM-1 Pro

I don't race mine either and I have the same performance as you also. I have people asking me all the time if its RWD due to the rear end getting sideways on power. It performs exactly as my drifter does with the stock slicks on it. The drifts are completely controllable. Yesterday out of curiosity I did full throttle donuts for about 30 seconds and my tires started smoking like crazy, then my tires ballooned full of hot air. After that I had to let them cool down and go back to regular size hahahahah

My first set of tires didn't last the nitro phase. But what do you expect when you put a truggy race 28 into an on road and gear if for over 60mph. Since than i use these tires from "ATS" They are rubber and you need to get heat into them before they will actually grip. If its a cold day or you are on rough bitumen you might as well stay home. However they are the only tyre that is available to me in Australia that can handle the brushless power and have decent grip once they get warm. Anything else gets torn to shreds

When i say its too fast i mean its too fast. On 5s it was undrivable even in a parking lot that was 200+ yards. I got to full speed one time (i think) and it caught a rock the size of a marble and took flight almost hitting me after 20 feet in air. I laughed after it missed me.

Maybe a rx8 1700kv will work with the 2 speed. that puts me in the low 30k range for rpm which is where the glow guys are.

Only one way to find out.

hey speedemall,
looks great! my neighbor just brought his inferno over to me and wants me to turn it brushless for him. how does yours run? what kind of speeds. i would be using a MMM, Neu 1515 1y, and 5s lipo. very similar to yours. just wondering how you like it so far.
