How to charge my pack properly. - 06.26.2009, 11:36 AM

I have no idea how to charge to charge my new pack for my Mini-T. The pack is an elite 1500 mah 7 cell with 2/3a sized cells. The charger I have is a Tower Hobbies AC/DC Digital Peak Charger w/ LCD. I need to know what amp, capacity, and what mV to set the peak sensitivity at. The charger also has an auto setting for capacity and amperage but I don't trust usesing these settings. Your imput would be greatly appriciated.

I would charge at 1.5-2A, capacity is 1500mAh (or 1.5Ah), and the peak should be set as low as possible without getting false peaks. The higher the peak is set, the more the pack will be heated up at the end of the charge (and heat is not good for NiMH). Set it too low and you'll have false peaks (charge will finish before the pack is really done charging). Around 3-5mV per cell usually works best for me, but this was on larger sub-C cells, you might have to adjust accordingly.

Whatever peak seting you use, just feel the batteries towards the end of the charge. If they are getting pretty warm (~105-110*), then stop the charge. Next time you charge, lower the peak setting a little.
