Cool RC8Te setup - 07.23.2009, 05:02 PM

Ello chaps, been a while.

Sold off my Supermaxxxxx for a whopping £1200 last year. So I went to Canada for a while, came home, moved house and just forgot about R/C.

Anyway, have this fellow now:

(Before anyone comments, I did sort out the crooked wheels! )

So I'm looking for a B/L setup. I'm running 4s 5300mAh 40C Lipos - so they are the bees kneez.

Thinking of a Neu or Lehner, want it to be insane, not worried about run times as I can quickly swap my batteries over and let it cool off too.

Any suggestions? And what ESC too... am I right in saying I can use a 4pole with something like a MMM? Finally, the mount is only for small cans, 550s (I think) so would a bigger motor fit or do I need to mod it?

Cheers,
Nick.

If you are running 4s, I would suggest the MMM 2200 combo or get the MMM and a Neu 1515/2D.

If you can run 5s, recommended, I would run the MMM and a Neu 1515/2.5D. This will be a STRONG and fast setup!

Ok...on 4s you could do the following:

1. castle neu combo 2200kv system
2. 1515 2D w/a mmm esc
3. Tekin RX-8 2200

If you could run 5s it would be a more efficient set up...

1. Tekin RX8 1700, 1900
2. Neu 1515 1.5y 1500kv. w/a mmm esc
3. 1515 2.5D w/a mmm esc

1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

I dont think 5s is an option here, I wouldnt want to change all my lipos over either- they are expensive in the UK and expensive to import (unless you get zippies, since they have that handy 'lie about the price on the shipping label' feature....).

I would recommend the MMM esc myself, though the Tekkin Rx8 is rather kickbutt too, albeit a bit £££ for just a basher setup.

The MMM2200kv motor would be ideal for 4s, though it wouldnt be the fastest option- that would be either a more spritely neu, or perhaps for a cheaper option aMedusa (they'll be new to you I expect, but they are very good 4 pole motors that are alot cheaper than a neu, yet almost as powerful and efficient) in either 70mm or 80mm flavour, 2300kv or2200kv respectively. Gear up and enjoy the results

If you go with a Medusa get the 80mm version. I have a 70mm 1600kv that I have run on my RC8T and it gets the job done but it gets a bit warmer than my Neu, the 80mm should stay cool for long runs without heat worries.

since you are on the other side of the pond. why not look at the German motors an esc's.
hackers c50 xl is a great motor. plettenburgs bigmaxx but its expensive. Lehner also very costly,
as for a esc mgm compro has very reliable esc's par with the mmm and better.
