Getting rid of burn marks on Chassis? - 07.29.2009, 09:18 PM

Okay...this may be a little Martha Stewart but... when my ESC blew up it burned the Chasis...not enough to melt it just enough to discolor it (that brown burnt look)

If I re-dye it black will this go away? Anyone know? If I don't re-dye it anyone have something that will get rid of it?

Drives me nuts that its there consdering its a brand new truck.

I've seen complete revo chassis sell for under 15.00, here s a example.

Yes re-dying the chassis black will hide the burn mark, unless the plastic it wadded up. If it's just discolored yes.

More than likely the plastic is discolored due to the heat,It's burnt. Chemicals aint touching it, Dye or Replace me thinks is the only option without seeing it ??

Yeah, my ESC fire actually melted a small spot on my chassis, but I'm guessing it will be fine once I sand it down. Or I cld replace it, but really don't feel like taking the truck apart.

Also, my MMM was sitting on top of two way tape, that hadn't had the plastic peeled off. Does it need to be?

If you have the Castle bracket that holds the ESC to the chassis I would still peel off the 2 sided tape to help it hold fast. Insurance ?

I'm surprised no one has come out with an alum chassis for theERevo...not for a conversion.

Maybe Jpoprock's formula for getting burn/skid marks out of his underwear will work on the chassis ???

Worked great.
I did a light sanding and washed it well before dying it. I heated it up to a boil then turned it down to min.... let it bake for 45 min.

I am now dying the new rims (scarlet red) :)

I was confident, but still releived to hear it worked. Happy for you. Post pictures when it all back together.

I dyed my Mini Erevo, I'm considering picking up a replacemnt full sized and dyeing it also because the black chassis looks so dam good.

Yeah, I wld suggest tossing them. Nothing will work. Especially after 2hrs at a KFC all u can eat buffet! Mix in some soft serve ice cream afterwards, and you've got yerself the perfect storm!
