TNX Brushless? - 08.22.2009, 06:19 AM

Is anyone aware of a motor mount to convert a Tamiya TNX 3.0 to Brushless?

Nope, but I've seen a couple homebrew conversions...

Hey Fast, I'm trying to do a brushless TNX Right now. I have not found anything anywhere. I will try to fab my own. I won some mounts on ebay that I'm waiting for. Not sure if it will even work? It was very short money. I will post my results. I think I can get some good speed when I will be done. I will be using a Losi 1/8 ESC. I will try a Hacker C50 MAXX 14.4 motor. Only because I have it laying around. I'm going to use Savage Flux battery boxes. Will post my results.

Did one about a year ago. Did some other "minor" modifications too, including complete E-Maxx a-arm conversion, Revo slipper, etc.
Full story here.

The 1/8 Losi ESC doesn't like motors over 3000kv. I had problems when trying to run the 14.4 C50 Hacker with the Losi ESC.

Hey Snellemin, You had problems with Hacker C50 14.4? Thanks for heads up.
I think mine is the 3000kv motor. Do you think that will be OK? What did you think about the losi ESC? I can always sell hacker on ebay and hope to get at least 60.00 for it. Hope that is. I would probably go with a 2200kv motor
or maybe a 2400kv tops. I am still going to try the hacker, just because I have it. I was going to use 14.8 volts. I know it high for that motor But I wanted to see what happens. I think I have read that 11.1v would work with hacker C50 14.4. Let me know your thoughts!

The 14.4V Hacker is 3600kv. I posted about the losi 1/8 ESC here ---> http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18537

Also make sure you have the latest firmware installed.

Snell- the c50 maxx is not 3600kv, but they do have a 3600kv version, for 12 cells. The std motor is 3033kv.

Hey Snell, Thanks for the link. And thanks for reminding me about the 3600kv rating. I Forgot what it was. I may go with a cheap feigao. maybe a 7 or 8xl.
Your hacker didn't cog in your garage. I should add that I will mostly be bashing not racing at all.
