That's strange... My "transmission shaft" (the shaft which goes from the gearbox to the diff) is also hot after driving. I don't know for sure, but I think it are the mech brakes. Or don't you use them?

well i dont use mechanical brakes, and my trans shafts are cool but input shaft (that has the spur) thats hot with the single speed adapter.

in ur case check that the grub screws on the cups coming out from the trans are not touching anything and creating friction.

in my case i dont know whats up. till now

Mine seemed hot most times also. I wouldn't worry too much.

^^^What he said^^^

I have always noticed on all my trucks that the slipper clutch parts always get hot. You may try tightening down a little bit and there could be too much slippage. Other than that I wouldn't worry.

Yogy,
FYI, if the tranny breaks ,the internal parts are very cheap. There is only 1 gear that will break and you can get it for under 10.00.

Tighten up the slipper nut slightly. The thrust bearing style slipper is very sensitive to adjustment, maybe 1/4 of a turn or less.
