even with all the smack talk i read AFTER i bought it back in the feburary special i'm still happy to have it now, finally. anyways i had a few small questions and then i should be good

first of all how much of a dent should i cut out of the 5mm shaft? could somone post a pic for referance.

secondly i KNOW somone out there has the 9920/9L combo & stock e-maxx radio, so which blue wire (top view with blue wires on bottom) connects to which wire on the fagio to produce forward motion? thought it'd be better to get it right first rather then switch it on the transmiter

third is it lists that the battery connector wires have to be less then 4", does this include the total length to the motor as well? it just seems like an odd thing to say, i mean if it's about resistance then wouldn't stick packs need even less wire? i ask because i plan later on to run 3-6 cell packs, so that'd mean what? that i have only a total of 8" of wire between them all?

forth what wattage iron should i use? we have a few

and fith, is there any special or better way that i'm sopost to sodder the motor to the controller? i've never soddered wires this large togeather before

On the shaft - Grind a flat spot - not too deep - just a flat spot with a dremel - and about half the total length of the exposed shaft should more than do. Dont know about the blue wire and such - dont have that controller - however you could solder them - if it drives backwards then reverse the two outside wires and resolder ( thats the way i do it on my controller anyway ). Keep your battery wires as short as possible - Thats all i can say about the length. A hotter soldering iron is best -
The only way i can describe the solder technique i used is is like this -take your two pointer fingers and put them together ( pointing towards each other) thats the way you want to solder the motor connections. Tin each of the wires on the motor and the speed controller - Hold the two wires together ( after putting shrink wrap on one wire ) and hit the tips with a nice hot iron - It should work perfectly.... Hope this helps ya..

Congrats on the BL combo.

I agree with HnC.

About the order of the blue wires, just connect them in any order you like. You can switch the direction of the rotation on the ESC. Mikes "sticky" in the BL section explains how. Very easy to do.

do not worry about grinding on your motor. buy a pinion puller, and coat your shaft with blue loctite. it will never slip or come off, you do not even need the grub screw after it dries.

for iron 40-80 watt is fine depends on how fast you want the job done

buy the 3.5mm gold conectors for your motor and esc, helps with diagnostics and if your motor runs in revurse, you just turn it off and flip wires 5 second fix

If the truck goes backwards just pull the red jumper off and put it back with the batteries attached. it will reverse direction for you.

yup, dont have to reverse the motor wires. also, when you say 3-6 cell packs, do you mean 18 cells total?!?

yes i mean 18 cells total, and yes i know that means a different motor, but that's far down the road, for now i just want to know what's the deal with the resistance, because stick packs will have higher resistance then side-by-side packs, and i don't want to blow the esc i just got just because i'm running stick packs, or somthing stupid like that. also, how much wire should i wrap togeather for the connection? 1cm?

i'm going to put it togeather this weekend and have 2 more small stupid questions.

i havn't soddered on anything this crucial before, modded my Xmod and fixed my headphones, but that's it so forgive me when i ask if deans sodder is better to use then regular sodder, i only ask because it says it provides the best connection on silver and gold surfaces but says nothing about copper and,,, whatever the wires on the 9920 are.

also i run powerpoles but have not once heard anything about them on this form, are they somhow inferrior to deans or do you all just have a strong preferance?

most people run deans because there small and can handle more amps than the powerpoles although the powerpoles are ok to use.
