1/16 driveshafts/diffs strong enough? - 06.15.2010, 11:33 PM

If I were to try to drop a mamba monster 2200kv motor into a custom frame with a mini revo rear end, the motor being connected directly to the center driveshaft, do you guys think it would hold up?

It would be running off of a 5s, 5000mah, 25c LiPo

this could possibly be a custom funny project comming up........

It'll last up until the point you pull the trigger on the Tx.

It depends on your tire grip. On ice or drifting tires maybe. Go for it, I would watch the video.

Do you have any smaller motors besides that Supercharged V-8(CC2200)?

I would be using 2.2 anaconda tires so yea, their would be a lot of grip. so forget that idea....maybe i could try it with like a rustler rear end or something (i'd have to find one though)

i have a couple brushed titan motors (no esc's for them) or the VXL-3M system. but they wouldn't have the power i hopped for

They most certainly will fail immedietely! I stripped a rear diff in a stock mini revo. I never checked the slipper setting and it was basically locked, combined with 3s it stripped in about 3 packs

IF you want power in your 1/16revo go for the big block setup on 3s. That will be way more power than you will ever need in that small a truck.

CUBIC INCHES = CUBIC HORSEPOWER = CUBIC DOLLARS

humm......i was sorta thinking they mite stand a chance after dropped the my monster into a radioshack boat last year. that thing had a plastic coupler that fit inside an e-maxx CVD (were it attaches to the tranny. so it was about 4mm thick). that coupler even had a hole in it for the screw to slip threw and it lasted for a wile before the spacers started to melt making the resictance so great that it could only rev up about half way

it's not actually for the revo. it would be for a custom build.

Even though the mini revo is actually a pretty solid truck "for what it is".
IMHO Go for it and make plenty of vidas i think it will be short lived

lol yea i would think it would be short lived but after seeing what that coupler held up to. it may have a chance. oh well. maybe i could barrow my buddies BL ready rustler rear end, slap a new e-maxx diff init, direct drive, and see what happens.....but i've got 2 other projects to do first
