New Turnigy packs from HK = UNGAWA!! - 12.16.2009, 09:09 PM

Just thought I'd let u guys know that I got my HK order very quickly, and I'm thrilled with my packs!

I grabbed two Turnigy 3s 5000mah 40c packs for my ERBE which are wired for 6s. I have been using some FP EVO25 V-Power 3s 5000mah 25c packs all summer. I thought they were still fine until I ran these new packs. HOLY CRAP!! What a difference! I've got my wickedly dangerous ERBE back! When power tapers off, it's hard to notice. With these new packs, the truck was much harder to control. Wheelies all day too. I even sheered one of my Proline hubs away from the axle pin, ruining that slot in the hub. Thankfully there is another slot for the pin! My wheel shot off the axle like a bad Indy Car wreck! I'm def gonna have to watch my temps again!

I'm running the Badlands again, along with 66/26 gearing, which is now too high! Before the battery switch, it still seemed slow (by comparison). Now I know why. I think my FP's have some life left tho. The resistance is less than 10 on them. Resistance on the Turnigy's after the first charge was like 3ohms!

I also got a Zippy 3s 5800 30c pack for my FLM Stampy. But I need to swap my 5700 CC for the 4600 with my SW to run 3s. I tried it with my VXL E-Jato (for sale) and it was too much pack for that truck. My tires are so bald that I couldn't accelerate without spinning out!

Next up are 4x Turnigy 2s 5000mah 40c packs for my Emaxx and Summit. So far so good with those too. It's weird to see my Summit on it's lid from wheelie action! The true test will be in my Emaxx. Sadly, I still need an EVX2 in order to run the truck with my single Titan 775.

The only thing I don't like is that the Turnigy packs come wired with 8awg wire. And that wire is nearly too thick to wire to anything other than bullets. In hindsight, I should have stayed with the factory wired bullets, and converted my ESC's over to those. I got them wired with TRX plugs, but it wasn't easy.

I highly recommend the new Turnigy packs though. How long will they last? Hard to say. I'd say a good long while reallyM and they were like $30 - $45 per pack!

J
