Motor Selection for Jato - 02.25.2010, 03:21 AM

The RC bug is biting again and I think I want to convert my Jato.

I plan on designing a custom chassis and having Mike mill it out for me.

I'll be using a Mamba Max ESC and would like to be able to switch between 2S and 3S. I would like to keep the 2 Speed but it seems like most people use the single speed, and it would definitely keep things more simple. Initially I was thinking of having it run an easy 30-35mph on 2S and stay in first gear, with 3S allowing it to shift to 2nd gear for something around 50-55mph?

But all that aside, I was thinking of getting your opinion's on motor choice?

I was thinking a Neu 1509?

I was considering pulling the Lehner 1930/7 out of my CRT .5 and using that in here and getting a Neu 1512 for my CRT.5. Any thoughts on that? Would a 1512 Neu be too much in a CRT .5?

What do you guys think?

Thanks

BP
