Wiring and numbers on motor

I am sure this question has been asked but I just want to make sure I do it right. When wiring the motor (LMT 1950) to the speed controller does it matter where each wire goes and do you solder the wires to the motor or use the gold connectors? Also there are 2 numbers written on the motor, a 7 and a 12. I assume the 7 is the number of turns (because it is a 1950/7) but what is the 12 for?

The wires can be soldered directly or plugged into the receptors on the motor. Or, use plugs with a slioght touch or solder to keep them from coming unplugged.
The standard "19" motors(non hi-amp) can be configured differently, so the 7 turn motor(which you have), can be re soldered to perform as a 12 turn motor. Essentially, they are two motors in one. :)

So I can solder or use plugs, great! But does it matter what wire goes to what from motor to speed controller?

It does matter which 3 wires go to which three. If it runs the wrong direction swap two wires around or unplug the red jumper while the batteries are plugged up.

That is a neat feature; to be able to re-wire the coils from a delta (triangle) to wye (star) configuration. It's like having two motors in one, depending on your needs. Too bad those suckers are so darn expensive.

If I am not mistaken they are a touch cheaper than the hi amp version.
