kyosho 46t spur on CRT -
06.02.2009, 03:57 PM
I was just wondering if there was enough track on the rcm motor mount to run a 46t spur and 11t pinion. I want to make sure that the gears can get close enough to mesh without the motor bolt slots ending. If you know what I mean then please help. BTW im running a MMM esc, feigao (eww feigao) 10xl 1668kv, 5s zippy, and in the future upgrade to a CC nue 2200kv.
Thanks.

I don't have the RCM CRT mount, but I doubt this will work unless you are running at least a 25t pinion.
If you are set on a 46t spur (which IMO is a good choice) you can get the CR mount and purchase the CR center bulkhead posts. This is what I did with my CRT, and it's been working great.

if u are going to use a spur that small go with the cr buggy mount and it should work fine if anything u may have to do some grinding on the rear chassis brace i can tell uthe crt mount i have runs fine with 14-46 gearing but if u know off the bat that is the spur u plan to use order the cr mount to keep the center diff low on the frame

ok thanks, can i have the part number for the diff mount, and you said only a 14t pinion, that would over gear my truck alot. with the 11t pinion and 46t spur it should put me around 39mph, 12t about 42mph. 14 will be way to much for the old feigao.

u just need the shorter posts and then u just dont use the plastic spacers, i dont have a part number im sure u could look it up on amain or something i also changed my diff gear ratio to truggy diffs using the hotbodies lsp f/r diff as well as pinions. tons of power on 5s perfect on the track but will need high c rated pack cheap 15c zippys wont cut it
BTW im running a 1515 1y f with the mmmv3 on 5 s

my 5s is 20c 5000mah. the front part of my diff mount has the spacers i think so if i take those out and use the CR buggy motor mount it should work? and do you know if the gears will mesh, 46/11 pinion to spur? I am on a budget (hence the feigao) and i dont want to change the diffs to 43/10.
this is how i rum my crt now. its a revo mount.

dont laugh at my traxxas Tx/Rx, it works fine! LOL

the gears will mesh fine if u can get the motor close enough which should not be a problem, but as a warning u will be geared pretty high if u dont do the diff conversion as well and it will seem to run fine and really fast but that is how i snapped my motor shaft as it will put much more strain on the motor. i was at a 14 t pinion but u are not far off even with an 11 if using what u plan to do i suggest a slipperential or the diff conversion, but it would help if i knew what kv your motor was,lol

1668kv as posted. with the 43/13, 46 spur, 11t pinion, 1668kv, 5s 18.5v, and 5.9 tires.
i get 30477 max rpm, and a top speed of 38mph, wich is what my truck gets now with pinion to spur of 62/14.
I think i will order the 46t spur and 11t pinion along with the cr motor mount tomorow or the next day. thanks for your help.
Eventualy i have plans for a CC 2200kv motor, spektrum radio lol, change the diffs to 43/10 and pinion to 14t.

that would be a good choice, but if an eleven wont quite kit u will be fine with a 12t pinion also get a better battery tray there is no way that will protect ur battery, get a monster tray or something that battery is going to want to move more than u thing especially when u case jumps or cartwheel or land jumps hard.

I think my battery tray will work. heres a pic.

I think i will get a 11t and 12t pinion just to be safe.
Notice how when i used the rcm crt motor mount how close the screws were to falling through the holes with a 14t pinion, thats the reason I went with a revo motor mount that i allready had. now im concerned that the screws wil be too close to the other end of the mount. LOL

The CRT mount will allow the 46t/11t gearing, but the CR mount is the better option when using the smaller spur(diff rides a lot lower). There was a batch of CRT mounts that was pretty limited on the pinion size when using the 62t spur - looks like you got one. It will work down to about a 9 or 10t with the 46t spur.:)

i ran 11/46 on my crt and it just got close enough with a 1515 1y/f 12/46 worked a little better tho, but since you have a smooth can motor i think it will work better

just an update. I paid about $100 for this stuff and with the 11t pinion it doesnt get close enough to mesh with the 46t spur. I am really dis a pointed, I just went from one extreme to another. I will have to grind out the slots to make the track longer but im not sure if this will work right. I have had this truck for about two monthes and I only ran one battery pack through it. If get a bigger pinion then it might be too much strain for my feigao and I dont have the money to buy a better motor. any ideas before I ruin this motor mount?
