The S.O.B. - 05.25.2010, 09:05 PM

I was challenged to build a one off RC-18 and in typical Carbon Fiber monster fashion, I built something short of a mini monster. Using a roller off ebay, i starting building the Son of beast. A couple of months and a few new parts, I finished the little monster. Here are a few pics.

Looks like you did a nice job on the chassis, the video however was pretty boring. What BL combo will you be installing and what voltage ? Look forward to seeing more.

You were expecting an exciting bench test video? Maybe if it jumped off the stand and knocked everything off the bench and small children ran away screaming in terror...

Well, it does only have a brushed esc & motor afterall...

When you cranked it up to full throttle though it sounds feisty, I bet it'll fly across a nice flat carpark pretty quickly...

Ballooning tires... - 05.26.2010, 07:01 PM

I don't get into rubber tires...they are there for the preliminary tests. Foams will be the wheels of choice. The future plan is to run a Castle Sidewinder 5700 system. No to low heat and speed as well as power. Fun all the way around. A custom top will finish the rig.

Need cheap brushless for the S.O.B. - 08.31.2010, 09:45 PM

I was initially my plans to run a 5700 in my little beastie but after further thought...for a car that weights hardly 2lbs...a Mamba 5700 on 2s would be over kill. What I need is a inexpensive brushless setup for my 1/18.

he can do better than that. go for a MMM 2200kv combo. you could gear it for 200mph and still get stone cold temps.....as long as the drivetrain holds up maybe you can set the torque control to .1 or .2

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.
