How to *properly* straighten out TVP's (or metal..) - 10.10.2010, 12:47 PM

Been wondering this for ages..

I usually just toss them in the bench vice grips and tighten it until it straightens out..

But I've been doing that, but not completely sure if it's the "proper" way... maybe it damages it in the long run.

But my TVP's are way bent out of the shape, so I'd like to straighten them out without damaging them in the long run?

Thanks...

i do the same thing... but place the tvp's in between two pieces of wood then tighten down... allows it to straighten the entire length in one go so it removes any tweak.

straightning metal damages it... no matter how you do it... it will always weaken it... unless you heat it then re temper it... but thats hard :P

so once it gets too flexible just replace it :P

Okay, I guess that's how everyone does it.

Anyone else?

Once they're bent you have no choice but to bend them back. Theres no right or wrong way, if they just have a slight bend have no worrys. A severe bend will be weakend once bent back regardless what you do or how you do it.
