DB17 1717 Update - 10.25.2010, 11:37 PM

After much waiting and work, my DB17 now has the Castle Creation 1717 installed.

The truck is geared 25/47 with the high speed idler and non-BP diffs.

When I had the stock 2200kv motor and 20T pinion, I was able to do 50mph on 4S.

With this 1580kv motor and 25T pinion, my top speed should be about the same. Just that I have a boat load more torque now.

I just finished putting it back together tonight so no running outside yet. But here's a quick teaser video on 4S.

Vid on youtube

Took the car out and smoked my ESC after about 15 minutes.

Quite odd. Batteries were under 100F and motor was at 130F. Of course the ESC was hot (180F), but that was after it let out the magic smoke.

The esc was a V1 and I was running 4S.

So looks like I'm down for another week or so until I get a replacement from CC. If I get desperate, I may snatch the MMM out of my truggy.

For the 15 minutes it ran, it was GREAT. Soooooo much torque. The Imex tires are crap on the street. 4WD power slides on command.

Naw, I just think it was a matter of time before that esc went.

The power wires weren't even hot which they normally were when I ran the 2200kv.
