Flux Cup side diff bearings - 11.12.2010, 04:50 PM

Just got done replacing my 4th set of cup-side diff bearings. These things seem to fail very quickly, the bearings on the gear side never seem to fail since HPI made those ones beefier with the BP diffs. Is there a higher quality bearing or maybe some kind of mod that will accept the same bearing as the gear side?

Built Ford tough, with Chevy stuff.

You can use a hellfire alloy diff cup which uses an 8x10 bearing, but you will also need roughly 32 shims to shim out the internals of the diff if using savage spider and bevel gears. It is defintely worth doing, and i will eventually do it at some point.

You think ceramics might last a little longer? I had some on my ERBE but didn't have them long enough to see if they ever failed.

I'm hearing great things about AVID RC bearings. I assume you make sure the diff is shimmed correctly?
