The "per manufacturers specs" is VERY misleading IMO. It doesn't take into account the entire circuit (having FETs rated 10,000A doesn't matter if connected by a 20GA wire), temperature derating, thermal management, whether they are lumping all FET ratings together (which is wrong since only 1/6 are carrying the full load at one time), etc. Judging by the FET count and part used in the regular MM (original one) vs the ones found in the MMPro (better FETs, just fewer of them), I would say they are rated for around the same current. The RX8 is roughly equivalent to the MMM current-wise.
If you are pulling enough power that the 13ga wires are to small then you probably will have bigger problems. The MMP will hit its current limits before the 13ga wire does. So if you think that the 13 ga wire is to small for your application then the MMP is also probably to small for your application. Look at the MMM or RX8.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
I'm running the MMpro with a 1512 1400kv motor right now. Batts are 6s1p and Rustler total weight is about 8lbs. Fan doesn't even come on, even running through grass. After the pack dumped, motor temps were at 115F and both ESC+batts at around 99F. Using Castle 4mm plugs.
I have been using the MMPro in my 808 5s/1550kv T8 motor since it was released to the public. Works just fine. Runs cool, fan barely comes on.
The only problem I have experienced is that just last week I got some servo glitching and would periodically lose steering. This was after running a 10 minute main and then bumping up to immediately run a 15 minute main. About 10 minutes in my steering started glitching. I know some units have had issues with the BEC. I am running 400oz JR servo in my buggy, so it may be drawing a bit much for it.
I put my CC External BEC on and it seems to be working fine. Regardless, the MMPro is one of the longest lasting ESC I have had in my buggy.
I had recently bought a MMM for my TEN-T using a 1700kv T8 .Unfortunatlly the MMM let go,but CASTLE CREATIONS got me going in a week.So while my MMM was out on vacation i installed my MMP running sensored with theT8.I was very happy with the smooth operation .I was getting between 18 to 20 min runs. Now that the MMM is back i am getting better than 30 min.Is this a difference in the two controllers or is this my lipos coming back to life from winter storage? Smooth is cool but run time is cooler!
I think this is the direction I'm going to go with my Jammin X1. Start off using the 1512 Neu that I have already and eventually get a 1512-sized Tekin so I can try the sensored feature in 1/8 scale.
@bryan: Sensorless is more efficient than sensored, so that would explain longer runtimes with the MMM over the MMP. The difference you recorded is pretty substantial though. Did you have the MMP in Smart Sense (hybrid sensored/sensorless) or Sensored Only mode?

I was running sensored only, but i was also using cheat w/added timing at a low rpm.
My batteries are FLIGHTPOWER'S and TURNIGY'S 5s 5000.They are probrably alittle heavy for the TEN but they work pretty well w/1700 T8. Ialso just shelled out alot of cash to get this thing so figured i would try and use whatever i could that i had
