AE 10SC 2wd - looking for a nice motor to go with Tekin RS. - 02.11.2011, 08:13 PM

Heya. I'm having a problem choosing the right motor for this. I decided not to go for overkill, and get a suitable motor for this setup, something that won't destroy the drivetrain. Something with sensor, preferably, but any suggestion that will work with the Tekin RS on up to 3s is appreciated!

Thanks in advance for any info!

Will you be racing the truck or just bashing?

Is this a RTR or a FT Kit?

I was unsure what motor to run in mine as well, after messing around with BrianG's calc trying different KV's I settled on a 3500kv TRX mill and a MMPro. Gives me lots of gearing options and runs decent, the temps are always pretty good.

A buddy of mine just bought a Viper sensored motor for his Hyper 10TT and he's really pleased with it so far, I have yet to see it run or try it myself.

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

Get the Castle Sidewinder SCT combo, 3800kv 4 pole tons of power but if you want to tame it down you can do that too. I have been running mine in my SC10 with a MMpro and love it. You can pick up the combo brand new for about $10 more than a sensored motor. I don't know Tekins but if it will run a sensorless motor you can sell of the sidewinder esc and make out great on the price for the motor.

It's the Factory Team kit, and I do plan on mostly bashing it, but I do want the option of going very fast as well. SCT combo from Castle is definitely interesting, but I wanted to try out sensored with this Tekin as well.

I can only get my hands on a Nosram X12 (10.5t for me.) within Norway for a reasonable price (US price.), so if that motor is good, that would be.. good. :) Anyone tried these?

Hope your idea of going fast is 45-50mph because these SC's like to take flight after those speeds because the body is like a friggin' kite.

Ah, well, 50mph is still fast. Would be satisfied with that. :)

How are the Nosram X12 series of motors?
