Congrats to ME! :) - 05.15.2011, 12:56 AM

Graduated today (with honors) from Montana Tech of the University of Montana with a Bachelors of Science in General Engineering with Civil Option. I was also awarded (as a big surprise to me) the "Outstanding Achievement in the Department of General Engineering" award. Which included a special plaque and $100. Only one person per department gets this, and I was really honored to be chosen.

Just wanted to share with you guys, I'm pretty proud of myself. I think I'll be more proud of myself when I actually get a job though...that IS the reason I went to college anyway, haha.

I'm the guy with the white stole (for being in Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honor society). (aka, the guy with the white bib).

Congrats, getting a job where you can use your new skills will be the icing on the cake.

A white bib was a bad choice as it will show up what ever you spill while eating/drinking!

that line up was just the "outstanding achievement" award winners in all the degrees. I'm by far not the tallest in general engineering here (think along the lines of 6'7", I'm only 6'1")

and thanks guys

Nice, definitely something to be proud of. Now go start reading the job interview thread again!

I've no problem with interviews, some of the recruiters I've interviewed with have commented on how well I did, I just never get hired because I've never been hired....vicious cycle....but I think there could be something good on the horizon, gotta keep hoping I'll be out of my mom's apartment soon....hope hope hope!

Yep, I was in that cycle for awhile myself. Even the "entry" level jobs wanted 2+ years experience. You need a job to get experience, but you need experience to get a job. Catch 22...

You have the right attitude though, just gotta keep putting out resumes and apps and not get discouraged. Definitely check out ABB, they have a lot of opportunities for graduates right out of school.
