RC Helicopter people don't like Castle Creations - 06.11.2011, 06:13 PM

I am troubled by this, they call it Castle Cremations and other stuff. The forum is Helifreaks. If someone from Castle is not already a member, maybe a representative could go there and talk to people the way you do in here. Answer question and give some info. Thanks.

WOW!!! But it's really no different than it was here a few years ago. Many people posted up failures but there wasn't much posted about all the success. I run nothing but CC ESCs in all my vehicles. The only problem I'm having is that in my 1/10 NasTruck 1s (esc has to be in sportsman mode) I can't keep up at all! I can go up or down with my roll out and it doesn't make much difference on the speed. Motor has never been over 125* after a run. Even tried a different motor but had the same results, new battery = same results. I'm at a loss but since they have never teched a vehicle at my track I just add some timing so that I'm competitive. Is it the esc? I don't know but I'm not putting a Novak in it or spending the money for a Tekin or Advance Electronics

We have an RC Heli forum full of unhappy campers

Cheers

Well it looks like someone from CC has posted in the Helifreaks forum in response to the CC HV ESC failures. He just didn't go at it the right way and his post was received with many criticism from the forum owner and closed.

http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=313589

If this guy is indeed a CC employee, I admit I too am disappointed that a CC employee would do this. I am used to a very different kind of feedback from CC in here at RC Monster. Honest, informative and to the point. No BS. Many times directly from Patrick himself. I wish it would be the same at that forum but I realize that CC can't keep track of all the RC forums on the web.

Yeah it is and it's a shame because some heli people in that forum have misconceptions of what CC is from what I've seen in here. And they're talking trash about CC products for over 135 000 members to read. It's a very active forum with tons and tons of great info. I wish Castle would take part in it to straighten things out. It doesn't look like it would be a small task though and I doubt that Patrick has enough time to spend talking to these ''Helifreaks''. From what I can tell, RC heli people are very demanding but I can understand why. Crashing a 2k heli because one electronic component failed is not fun. They don't call themselves freaks for nothing either, many have all their stuff in the car at all times just so they don't miss an opportunity to fly, one example is they'll skip lunch at work to go fly, or they will rearrange their week's schedule to include as much flight time as possible. They truly are freaks and I'm becoming one of them

People tend to complain on forums more than those who are happy and run their stuff. The happy people are out having fun running their stuff.

Helifreak can be a little hard core with opinions and it can be overbearing at times. It's a good forum but I wouldn't take everything over there as gospel to the world of helis.

Doesn't matter - -if we post, they just flame more. I gave up trying to help/reason with people on helifreak.

They could always post on our forum on RC Groups.

Sorry I brought it up, didn't know there was some past experience with the ''freaks''. It still bothers me to see this kind of negativity towards CC.

The funny part is that when your cheap no name brand esc brings down your chopper you have no one to blame but yourself. The heli guys, me included, spend so much time and money putting together our heli's that when one goes down its always a bad deal. The part that broke is the one you end up hating the most, whether its a servo, speed control, receiver, gyro, etc etc. A lot of guys that I know run CC speed controllers on their heli's without issues, but I'm sure some have probably failed and when they do on a 500 or larger heli, the whole world is going to hear about it.

No denying that the CC Heli ESC's are going through a rough patch at the moment

We have an Aussie based Heli forum and the number of failures (most within the first few flights) are not good

May only be a small sample (100 odd users) but the poll current sits at 33% failure rate

Cheers

What I got from it all is that "Steve Rogers" is doing things he should maybe not be doing if affiliated with Castle.

Castle- Have a talk with Steve Rogers he is tarnishing your name.

I am fortunate to know a really good heli guy who I know worked personally on projects with CC over the years. When I was looking into heli's he told me the first and foremost you have to accept the fact the you WILL crash. It's never if, it's when. He also told most of the time it's due to the pilot and not anything else even though many want to blame this or that.

The nature of a helicopter in general is that it really doesn't naturally want to fly and stay stable, you have to force it to. I have my office on an Airport and the people next door work on helicopters and usually have 3-5 in their hangar. I have had extensive talks with them about the nature of helicopter flight. It stays pretty much the same no matter scale. It's just that in the RC heli world the larger the heli the more expensive the crash. You don't want to know what just a hard landing will do to a real helicopter as far as monetary damage.

When it comes to the business part I can completely appreciate what Patrick is saying. Some people can't be pleased so you wash your hands of it and move on. I had a customer just recently we lost because of this. Nothing we could do would ever be enough because their expectations were simply unrealistic. Sad thing is they won't be happy with anyone in the end.
