Forums need Condensing -
07.05.2011, 10:52 AM
Just looking through and it seems that as things are now there are too many forums.
Such as condensing several into a "Monster Trucks" forum:
Gorilla Maxx
Savage
T/E Maxx
Revo
Unlimited Engineering
Those could all become one and everything would look cleaner and the traffic would be more consistent.
I think buggy and truggy could be one as well and probably merge medusa with the brushless forum.
There's just too may individual forums with very low traffic and it makes the site look cluttered in my opinion.
Anyway, my .02 for whatever it's worth.

As a mod I'd agree but I'm not sure who/if we have admins to make updates apart from Mike.

I don't think I can either. Looks like we'll have to wait for Mike to decide to do those changes, and that's if he even wants to.

I agree with combining the various MT sub-forums, but I'd still like to see the buggy and truggy forums kept separately. Customer Testimonials and Feedback could be combined with Product Reviews. Also, I don't think too many tears would be shed if the "General Nitro" sub-forum was pruned altogether... same for the Jato forum.

Don't forget to ADD the LST/Muggy forum! I know it was talked about before, but nothing happened.

We will never have a LST forum. Too many savage guys here that drank the flux koolaid...
I do agree that alot could be moved and pruned. Maybe a general maxx section that could have the UE, etc stuff as sub forums? Or just do a section for non oem mfgs, and put UE, gmaxx, etc in there? And yes, the jato section could go bye bye...

I think an LST section would be great on here. But here is my list of sections I would not miss at all: Tekin and Novak, even though they have both been posted on in the last week, the reps that show up there are sparse as well as clueless IMHO. I mean the The tekin rep doesnt even know common knowledge stuff about lipos. Medusa, UE, jato, and the nitro sections can all go bye bye. Why there is even a nitro section here is beyond me. Just my $0.02
Built Ford tough, with Chevy stuff.

The purpose of condensing would be to not have multiple low traffic mostly repetitive type forums that could best be represented by one singular forum. Henceforth the LST forum is pointless. How many LST threads pop up daily? I loved my LST, way better than a Savage by all means. However, it could all be combined into a "Monster Truck" forum and serve everyone well.
My original idea is to have less forums and for it to look less cluttered. I think traffic would appear up and thus may even get higher if it was done.

It would be nice if you could edit the way the forums appear in such a way that you could make a single active forum page for yourself -- you just select the forums you wish to be active for the main / active forum in user CP, and all the new posts from (for example) HPI Savage, Brushless, T/E Maxx, etc, appear on that 1 forum page. I've never seen it done before on a forum, but I don't think it would be impossible and it would be a very nice feature. When you post a new thread, you must choose which specific forum to post in, and when you click in on a thread the specific info could be on the top or next to the thread itself. Lots of nice solutions.

Oh, that's too bad. :( But surely a programmer could modify it, it's just up to the owners of the software to let them...

why would you want to give yourself tunnel vision and not know anything about what's going on with other trucks that aren't like yours? sounds narrow minded to me. I always check out baja builds and such, even though I don't think I'll ever get one.

Oh yes, anything is possible but would this feature lead to increased sales? Maybe, maybe not (I'm thinking "not"). So, there really is no business reason to hire someone to do this aside from being a neat feature. Programmers aren't cheap for minimal return.
