ransoms robitronics br50 1/8 shortcourse brushless beast - 10.11.2011, 03:59 AM

hello rc monster
converted this a while back and its become a favorite to drive
thought i would post it here as one of the only other ones converted to brushless on the net is on this forum too
i have a couple of brushless savages but this is the one that is getting driven the most lately

bought as a roller only fairly cheap and local
ugh nitro residue smells like toilet cleaner

the esc cops a lot of muc off the front wheel so i had to duct tape a shield up in front of it
needs some "underwears" for sure

body is quite the mudcatcher too

and fitted an hpi vorza esc mount fits the sc8 esc well with a bit of room to spare

did a reconfigure to fit twin battery holders to fit bigger 2 x 2s lipos
motor to front right centre diff swapped
servo remounted to left and stood upright
esc moved back slightly
46t spur fitted with 15 t pinion

stock tyres started unglueing so went to 1/8 buggy wheels
slightly lower profile and centre of gravity

this thing is tough flys well
will drift sideways down a straight and will roll and cartwheel without too much damage
i had read about the front hinge pin holders punching thru the plastic holders
and yes it happened so i fitted titanium savage hinge pins with circlips
and some washers and screws to keep them in place

here is what i have it geared to at the moment
motor and esc run cool
have punch set way down to make it semi- controllable and its still mad fun

Differential Ratio: 4.2
Transmission Ratio: 1
Other Ratio: 1
Spur Tooth Count: 46
Pinion Tooth Count: 15
Total Voltage: 14.80
Motor KV: 2700
Tire Diameter (inches): 4.5
Tire Ballooning (inches): .2
Motor Current Draw: 0
Motor Coil Resistance: 0
Spur/Pinion Ratio: 3.07 : 1
Total Ratio: 12.88 : 1
Tire Circumference (inches): 15.39 inches (391 mm)
Rollout: 1.20:1
Total Motor Speed: 39960 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 45.23 mph (72.65 km/h)
Effective KV Value: 2700
KT constant: 0.5 oz-in/A
Motor Torque: Amperage not specified...
Final Torque: Amperage not specified...
Final Power: Amperage not specified...

and just blew the front diff ringgear and pinion
they are quite tiny really
funny how something designed for big block 4.6 nitro does not handle 4s lipo

but really liking the handling the fun and the way it looks running around a track
its pretty much just a 1/8 buggy with a stretched chassis and axle extenders and a big bodyshell
i see a few here have associated sc8s?
look nice but expensive for me
anyone tried the nitro rcx 1/8 short course trucks ???

http://www.nitrorcx.com/52c79-re-madbash-alphablue.html

http://www.nitrorcx.com/52c78-re-mad...brushless.html

i want another truck like this to be able to race around the track together
may build one out of buggy parts i have laying around
or convert a savage to something similar

there is nothing like this where i live local track is great but its all very serious 1/8 nitro buggy racing
or 1/10 electric and i cant see them letting me into that pack with this beast
