Talking Downgrading Motor - 05.13.2006, 02:32 PM

I love my 7XL on 18 cells. It is great in my E-Maxx. (Need a new ESC though now).

However, with my ongoing EB4 conversion I really want a fast setup (without Lipos/Limn) but not use 18 cells because of the weight. So I was thinking of a high KV motor.

Can anyone make suggestions on a good, very fast setup, that requires less cells? Runtimes don't bother me but I don't want to go over the motors RPM limits. I was thinking of a Lehner?

Am I correct in saying the Lehner Basic motors are named after their KV? A 3100 is 3100 kv?

I've also looked at the Wanderer Small can but not sure how powerful these are?

Yes, the Lehners have the same kv as there name. I wouldnt however recommend a Lehner XL or a Wanderer S. I would personally go with something like a 6XL. It would be great for 12 cells.

I was meaning the Lehner Basics.

With my 7XL I ran 14 cells. So I can't really see a 6XL being much better. It wouldn't compare to what I run now... which is what I want but with less cells. ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong but is a EB4 a 1/8th scale buggy? It would require at least a L motor probably to keep the temps down. I know a Lehner Basic wouldn't like that buggy to much. A lehner Basic is for like turning cars or a 2wd stadium truck that isn't heavy and doesn't require alot of torque. And actually, a 6XL would FLY in that car on 12 cells. They have a pretty high kv yet still have enough torque to allow you to gear higher for more top speed.
