Slash Disappears - 06.06.2012, 06:12 PM

So here is a crazy story from today.

After work I called a friend of mine to see if he wanted to go out with our trucks for a little while. I picked him up and we went to a small strip mall not to far from his house.

There is a pretty good elevation change right next to the parking lot and we thought it would be a fun place to jump the trucks.

We get out of my truck and start running the trucks around. He drove his out front by the main street behind a bush and it disappeared. We were there looking for it for the next 15-20 minutes.

He looked up to wave to a friend of his and after that the truck was gone. It was a Traxxas Slash 4x4, blue beat up body, proline badlands and a Castle Mamba Max pro. The MMP only had two runs on it, we just replaced it.

Other than that the truck is completely stock.

We are still shocked how the truck disappeared. There were only a few things that could have happened. Either someone got out grabbed and truck and stole it, or it got caught under someones car and they drove off with it under the car.

We were right by a busy road and cars were stopping for a light just ahead.

I don't understand how we both didn't see anything and it just disappeared.

Now I'm looking for a used Slash 4x4 for him.

Anyone ever have anything crazy like this happen to them?

Nick

Wow, that is bizarre! The second you realized it was lost, did your friend try and floor the gas to see if you could hear it? Did you hear anything at all?

tell your buddy to always keep line of sight, especially around a very busy road.
In fact, I wouldn't drive around a busy road at any time...weird though. Watch craigslist for someone trying to sell it. Hope he saved the product number for his slash.

He did try and acclerate to see if we could hear it. It took him a minutes to walk down to where he thought it was.

I try and always keep sight of mine and not go behind bushes like that but things happen. He was laughing about it mostly, but we are both just shocked really.

I'm already watching craigslist and the local forums.

Thanks,
Nick

If a $400 RC truck gets repossesed, we have issues.

I'm actually not sure, I have no idea what happened.

I'm surprised no one has suggested the obvious answer - your friend accidentally ran into an anti-slash - and based on the phenomenon of matter/antimatter annihilation - the slash and anti-slash would have combined, annihilating both of them and releasing a large amount of energy. Did you see any bright flashes when the slash was out of sight or feel anything like a rushing of wind or energy?

Here's a friendly summary of the phenomenon:

Did you check any drains around there, also how far away did you check? It could be further than you think, I wonder to if it went under a low car and was dragged. 2.4 acts strange once it's out of line of sight, I've seen a car act like a nitro runaway. I've also seen a nitro runaway over 300 yards away from where it was thought to be.

It wasn't out of range, we are talking about 50-100ft away at the most.

We checked for a while around where we thought it could have gone and nothing. My friend even went back and checked later on again.

So I heard a little more about this today. My buddy saw the friend that he was waving to who was riding a motorcycle. The guy on the bike said his Slash was in the street and saw someone with a broken bumper behind him. He's pretty sure it was caught under a car and it was dragged away.

He was going to take another look in that area to try and find it again.

I also found him a RTR Slash 4x4 for half the cost of a new one. We are probably going to pick it up in the next few days.

So I found a new/used Slash 4x4 in pretty good shape locally for my buddy, ARTR. He just needs a stock Traxxas receiver and he will be ready to go. I let him borrow one of my spektrem receivers and tx's that I'm not using.

We wanted to make sure it all worked as well. He was happy and for $200 it was a pretty good deal.
