You would need wheels and shocks for it. It don't look to bad. It would have a lower cog than the stock one to. I think it would be decent for a conversion.

what about price versus what you get. i don't know a lot about savages, but being brand new, it looks like an o.k. purchase.

Yeah, i've seen that one passing by at savage-central.

225 isn't a bad price, but i heard stories about the savage-x having the same diffproblems as the current type.. that is a concern.

it's because of the flex in the differential housings.With hard acceleration or with hard braking, the pinion jumps over the ringgear. the pinion and ringgear will suffer badly.

that sucks. does anyone offer an aluminum housing? that would fix the flexing issue, right?

I had a front diff go out on me. I went to the flm housing and seems to have fixed my problem. I could get an aluminum diff cup as well but haven't yet. I wait for it to go bad again. so far it is doing well. If you get the flm combo bulks make sure you get the steering piece with it.

you need a HB8019 diffcup to make the diffs better.

I thought the flm bulks would fit the savage x. It just don't have the quick remove diff like the x. But if it don't break you shouldn't worry about removing it is my theory.

No, they don't fit. The scews are in the lower holes, and not in the upper...

Hmm. I guess they changed more than i thought. Thanks rene. What other stuff is not interchangible? So I or others don't buy the x stuff for a reg savage.

It's hard to tell from a picture if something fits or not.

I was curious if the new 3speed case would fit the normal savage. Or isn't it possible to drill holes in the normal case, so you can adjust the 3 speed? Must be doable?

What differential configuration do Savages use? Is it 1/10th? What spyder?

No, it's ringear is larger than the buggy 1/8th. it has got about 3 times the contact area than a 1/8th diff. the diffcup is pretty much the same. It uses, as what UE calls, a 6 spider.

but it uses hardened gears. Which is much tougher than the ones that UE/ofna uses in their diffs.
