Programming my dual 7XL's

Just got done programming my controllers for my dual 7XL setup. I programmed my first controller (the one that has the UBEC connected to it) with normal procedure of pulling the black and red jumpers then putting the red one back in when finished.
Now I did the same thing for the second controller and nothing happened. Then I remembered that the second one doesn't have the UBEC wired in to it so I Plugged the black jumper back in just to program it. Everything went fine so then I removed the black jumper and put the red one back in (not in the same spot as the black one of course).

Just want to make sure that that was the right procedure for the second controller. It seems to run just fine for the couple of minutes that I had it running in the garage but just want to make sure. I believe that is how I did it when I programmed my dual 9L's but can't remember for sure.
