Brushless Lightning project - 11.22.2006, 09:03 PM

So i am starting this up to some versions that i have seen that are magnificant. The Truggy will be a Hotbodies Lightning pro-R which. The car comes as a built roller. The system will be a mamba max esc runing a Faegio 9xl. I will use an elevated motor mount to give me the most side room for cells. It will not be lithium. to be able to run more cells i will change placement of the servo and move it to the center. i need help on the motor. i need someone to cut it. but i will design it. so anyone who can do this please let me know. i am hopping for dual 8 side by side cell packs. i hope it gets enough power.

you got it truggy already or plan to get one. I have thought of one of these
myself. 16 cells on a 9xl should work nice. I think lipo would be nice for lighter weight.

Peace!

Good choice of motor and # of cells; i used this setup with a Quark 125b in my Lightning Pro and it worked really well.

You think the mamba can't handle the 16 cells real well.

I did a few speed runs with 16 cells and it didnt get any hotter than with 4s lipo orions. But like I said it was just for a few speed runs 16 cells is pushing it. Make absolutely sure you have a BEC if you try it and dont forget to cut the red wire:027: let us know how it works

And if your gonna be racing - then make the motor mount as low as possible for a low center of gravity - and you might ( depending on the thickness of the motor mount ) wanna think about supporting the back of the motor so that there is no flex up or down.... jmho..... Good Luck

Hows that "Hope and Change" working out for Ya???

Brushless Lightning pro-r - 11.25.2006, 12:27 AM

I am getting this roller for the holidays and i am planning on doing a conversion. Now i have come to the conclusion for the system, batterys and how i will mount the motor. but i now i hear i need a plastic spur gear, if so which should i use? Also is their someone out their that can cut out a motor mount for me if i buy the aluminum and mark the cuts? obviously for some sort of charge. Where can i get a heatsink for a Feigao xl series motor. i am using the highest one which i believe is the 9xl.
Another thing, can i directly solder the motor to the esc rather than using gold plugs? i know i can but will it be a good idea.

Will you please stick with opening one topic about this?

the heatsink can be purchased thru Mike, the owner of this forum, check out www.rc-monster.com

the wanderer XL (same as the feigao) comes standard with 5.5 mm gold plugs.
