Motor experiment -

I was tearing down the Revo for a thorough cleaning and replacing some worn parts and decided to do a little experimenting on the motor.
I removed my 10XL and hooked a couple meter leads to two of the phases and the shaft to a drill. Spinning at ~3500rpm, the 10XL put out ~7v AC open circuit voltage and 8A short circuit current. Looks like it would make a decent generator if spun at 20-30k rpm. :) I'm thinking about making a 3 phase AC rectifier circuit to convert the output to a DC value and see what I get from all three phases. I dunno though, it's a bit of work just to "see what I get".
Then, I wanted to see what kind of EMF braking capability the motor had, so I hooked up the drill again and locked the trigger at full power (~3500rpm). Then I shorted the 3 phases of the 10XL together and it almost stopped the drill! :dft002: Even when turning the motor by hand, you can really feel the resistance!
Anyway, maybe not very interesting to most, but I thought it was cool. :)
