Thumbs up New 20C MaxAmps Lipo 12000HV 2S3P 7.4V Pack - 01.02.2007, 11:38 PM

How good are these what kind of run times am i looking at on a maxx with 7xl, 125b and such. also how do i charge these on a 989 charger, do i need a balancer and if so were can i get one. Since the battery runtime is so long will it overheat the motor and or ESC the ESC will have ESC monster heat sink with fans, and the motor will also have a motor rcmonster heat sink. what do you guys think of these batteries.

I just got the 8000mah 2S2P Packs for my G2R and they work awesome.

The 12000mah 3P's are too heavy for anything but a larger scale vehicle. The 8000mah 2P's should be plenty for almost any application.

I'd say I'd get AT LEAST 40 minutes at race pace.

I get like 18 with my GP3700's. so...having 2x the capacity plus another 600mah plus the fact that Lipo's last longer compared to NiMH of the same capacity means these should last at least 40 min.

when you say race pace what does this mean? are you being easy on your batterys or harder? how would you expect the runtime to be if you are just bashing at like a dirt pile or the dunes or something (it would be in a mm5700 rusty using paddles)

also how long is the charge time for the batterys?

thanks!

Race pace is normally harder on your batteries. Race pace is how you would drive your truck in the race. Basically, it means being as fast as possible, which basically means you are drawing more power, and will get less runtime.

Bashing is normally much easier on the batteries because you aren't giving full throttle every second you can. When bashing, you may hit a jump there, do a speed pass there, pop a few wheelies there. That isn't as current eating as full throttle, full brake, turn, full throttle, etc.

Charge time is about an hour and a half if you charge at 1C. However, you will get about 90% capacity charged in about an hour due to the CC/CV charing characteristics. The last 10% takes the most time because the charger reduces current in order to keep the voltage of the battery at a safe level.

PS. 1C means 1 x capacity. So 1C for a 8000mah pack is 8amps, while 1C for a 6000mah pack is 6amps, and 2C for a 6000mah pack is 12 amps.

So far, I do not know of a charger that will charge at over 10 amps, so the 12000mah packs will take quite a while to charge; probably about 2 and a half hours.

The 989 can probably do it in 2hrs, if it's one pack. Also, to get 40 min of run time? I would say more about 35 with 2s2p 8000's. Especially racing. Bashing, 45min about....

I get close to 20 with my GP3700's. My truck is very light (9 pounds), and I am pretty conservatively geared. My motor runs 85*F on the can, about 95 on the rotor, and 95 on the ESC all day long. It is a small, tight track.

I think he is dis-agreeing with your statement " I'd say I'd get AT LEAST 40 minutes at race pace. "

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL
