Torsen Diff with BL power -
03.06.2007, 12:46 AM
After all this stuff about people using 1/8 scale diffs in the Maxx's (and soon Revo's) I can't help but to notice that we can use Torsen diffs as well, right?
They are hefty at ~120 bucks each, but I can just imagine the performance increase they may offer.
Anyone have any comments? Anyone use a torsen diff?
I think it would be awesome and it may just prompt me to get the Hybrid bulks for my G2R for just this reason. I'm only worried that they may not hold up to BL power (can anyone comment on that?).

What about them did that person not like? Did they use them in the front and/or rear, or the center? Do you have a link to a post in which they expressed their opinion? I've been interested in these as well, but the price has kept me away.

But said what?
So far, your posts have just been "they won't" and "someone said that"
That really doesn't tell us much lol... :p

I already serached :) Thanks anyway though.
I'm just curious if they would hold up to BL power/torque. It would be hard on the wallet to blow a $100+ diff.

I knwo what you mean BP. It is alays better to find the info beforehand, then experementing on something you are unsure about whether it will work or not.

it's UE who says they WILL break, that is with the mt tires. not just BL.
so if a nitro mt breaks them, a BL will for shure.
but you can always try and prove UE wrong?!?

Yea, well, the way UE strengthens their trucks...you wonder how they drive them...
I run pretty much a stock G2R (only upgrades are ones that reduce weight).

It was Dafni who tried it in a savage he build for someone. It lasted less than 5 minutes iirc..
If you look at the threads jollyjumper started, (yeah, all of them..:p ) you'll see a torsen diff made by an Italian company, for MT's and buggies. I guess that one will last a bit longer.
The torsen diffs can handle a certain amount of torque. (a good one is torque sensing) but they are not unlimited in torque. If this level is reached, the differences will increas in rpm (from front to rear) and since the diff is protesting as hard as it can, it will wear rather fast.

I wonder be using it as a center diff - I will be using it as a front or rear diff (right now I'm thinking just front).
If being used a center diff I can see how it would wear quickly, but up front I don't really see why.

Since the torque at the wheels is about 4 times as high than with a center...
