I put my e-maxx on the scale, with the IB 7-cells, and it was over 12 lbs.

I know if I get lipos, that might make the biggest difference, but what would be second best, tires? I have the stock revo tires with revo rims.

I still have the stock tranny, but I like the low gear, I use it for tug of war with my dog :005:

I have the stock e-maxx chassis, revo titanum center axles, steal front and rear axles, etc.

Going to a 3.3 setup and losing the cvds will lower the weight. Going to a G3 chassis should lower the weight. Going with some MT tires will lower the weight. And obviously, going LiPo will lower the weight. Also, going BL will lower the weight, although I'm not sure if your running BL since you didn't specifiy.

I am running brushless now, the 9920 / 8xl. What MT tires are lighter? Also, which rims?

I may consider going lipo, I just hate the initial expense.

I also have the pro-line shocks.

Almost all the proline maxx sized tires will be lower in weight


Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

the revo tires aren't that heavy. but you should be able to shave off 3-4 oz.

can you shoot a pic of your maxx?

Last time I was there Proline had weights of all their tires on their website, useful info. Obviously you need to pair this up with lightweight rims. the lightest tires are the crimefighters in Mt siries (40s are heavy.) The Revo tires/rims are actually pretty good weightwise for all around tires.

Otherwise, replace any metal parts with plastic that you feel comforatble with. Lipos and a single motor also goes along way. (Edit:n/m, you have BL.) Other than that, you get into procedures whereby you start trimming away excess material.

What is your application and goal? If you're just a basher/"dog-fighter", put it on the scale and went "whoa! what a pig!" does the weight really matter? Chopping weight down can get really expensive, depending how deep you go. What's it worth to you?

Here is the thread of pics I had uploaded. In the pics I had the chevron tires on becuase I use those for sand, but use 4 revo tires for all other terrain.

Would the tires shave 3 - 4 oz per tire?

I bash, but I was suprised to see it weighted so much. I was thinking if it was lighter maybe it wouldn't break as much.

It would be good to have good tires, and the lipos. Looks like those two things would really make a diff.

No, the revo tires weight about 2.2 lbs per 4. Not a bad weight for wheels.

Now, I do use 2 9V batteries to run my fans, I would rather do this then drain the 14-cell. I know this takes up weight, but not 2 - 3lbs worth. After seeing other trucks that weighed around 9 lbs, I couldn't believe mine was over 12 lbs, about 3 more lbs. That sounds like a lot to me.

I would ditch the 9Vs. A 2 sec wheelie will drain more power than the fans will the entire run.

Otherwise you could do little stuff here and there. 12 lbs w/ the batts right? Each 7 cell should weigh ~1lb. So really you are ~10lbs, which is not that bad for a normal Maxx w/ a few alu parts.

Well no, not good, but stocker is 9.7 lbs w/o batts. so its not obscene.:005:

I have seen others as well who have gotten theirs down to 8 lbs and below w/ a combination of lightweight tires/rims, various gmaxx parts, ti hingepins/links replacing the steel stockers, 4 shocks, using plastic where ever possible, and trimming down plastic that isn't necc, etc. Although if he gets it too light the dog may win...
