New setup for E-Revo !!! -
04.08.2007, 07:15 AM
I´m looking for a new setup for my E-Revo - I have been searching the forums, but haven´t found answers, so I hoping somebody can give a little help here :028:
My batteries are 2 x 8000 mah and 2 x 6000 mah 2s2p 7.4 v from maxamps.
It´s for bashing only. I was thinking of getting novak 4.5. But I´m not sure - I´m spending about 300 $.
I wan´t something easy and not with a ton of programming options. (have been runing quark 125B and feigao 540c 7xl before - but I wan´t less programming and lower budget this time)
Can anyone give me some advices, please :007:

buy a mamba max controller , a ubec and a a 7xl I am sure you will have all the power could want and need. The mamba is easy to program. I am sure you will be happy although a 7xl might be a bit much for a revo. I am sure if I am wrong someone will chime in and tell you what might be better but from what I have read it is a good setup that is not to expensive. Oh yea you should think about getting the heatsink clamp from Mike it helps to keep the rear endbell on because the pressed in style sometimes fall out of the can!

I have been thinking of the mamba max, but on rc-mosnter.com I can read that it is only for 2-3s lipo - and I´m running 4s won´t that be a problem ?? What aboyt the 9920 ?
But what motor ??
I have a 540c 7xl laying arround and a UBEC. But the 7xl was too musch power for me and my bashing :-)

4s should not be a problem as long as you disable the bec. If the 7xl is too much power for you and might want to check out a 9xl then. It will be slower but will give you better run times.

What about the gearing if I go with the MM and Feigao 7xl. I have a strobe slipper (51 T ofna) and 16/20 T pinion. Will that be ok ??

Don't feel worried about using 4s on the MM. After all, the ESC is rated for 12 cells which is VERY close to 4s. At nominal ratings, 4s=14.8 (3.7v/cell) and 12 cells=14.4 (1.2v/cell). Even at right-off-the-charger voltages, it is fine: 4s=16.8v (4.2v/cell) and 12 cells=16.8v (1.4v/cell).
If you already running a Quark, why not just keep it? You say you don't want lots of programming options, but once you set the programming it's done. And the Quark is actually smoother than the MM IMO (I have two of each).
I don't know if I'd go with the MM and a 7XL. Someone else here has had issues with it. If you want to stick with the 7XL, I'd also stick with the Quark.

I don´t have the quark anymore. AndI´m not sure about the 7xl.
What about this setup:
Mamba max esc
Feigao 540 8xl
Heatsink clamp (xl)
UBEC
Strobe slipper with 51 T spur and 16/20 T pinion
2 x 2s2p 8000 mah 7.4v maxamps

That sounds good. Although you might still want a fan for the MM...

The 4.5 may be faster, but the 8XL would be better from a power standpoint. The 4.5 is a very fast kv motor, for a MT motor (4800kv) where the 8XL is a slower motor (about 2000kv, both unloaded), the 8XL is also a bigger rotor design and develops more torque, so you can gear higher and maintain effeciency
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Where do I get the best bang for the buck - Novak 4.5 with lvc and lipo or this mm/feigao setup ?

IMO, 8XL and MM. For less price you get a more powerful motor which is more versatile (can gear up for more speed). And the MM is a dream to program.

Wow, going from "best bang for the buck" to "high end". :)
For 4s, either the 1512 2d (2600 kv) or 1512 2.5d (2000 kv, but out of stock right now)
For 5s, either the 1512 2.5d (2000 kv) or the 1512 2y (1400kv). The 2y might be a little too slow so you'd have to gear up a little.
