I ran a Feigao 9xl on my 1/8 buggy on 4s. I was geared 18/46. This would be way too fast for the track, because I was hitting about 45mph.

I run a Wanderer 8XL in my Yusa buggy with 4s lipo and a MM also geared 18/46 with no problems at all.

I run a feiagao 7xl with a mamba on 4s. It works well enough. The feigao gets hot, but thats just because of what it is, a cheap inefficient motor. Its fast, and the mm and batteries stay cool, so I like it.
For gearing it, Id aim for 30-35mph using this calculator.

I'm also using an 8XL on 4s with 16/48 on my jammin x1-cr buggy. They are great motors for the price.

There's two sides to every schwartz, he got the up side and I got the down side.

Feiago 8XL, MM, 4S, 14/44. 10ish min runs on 4350s. The motor gets bloody hot typically around 85degC with the RCM heatsink and 2 fans on it, the MM with 1 fan gets pretty darned hot too 70degC ish. The setup works and is fast but I really want a better motor. I wouldn't mind a bigger ESC too but with my budget I doubt that will happen, it will get a motor upgrade soon I hope tho.

The Feiago/wanderer/nemisis are the cheapest motors that will work, but I think the cheapest motors you will be happy to keep are yet to be identified. I'm going to try a Mega 22/30/2 and see how that goes its a lot smaller than an XL but better quality so the efficiency may reduce the need for the extra mass? They are 6 pole to keep the torque high and are not much more expensive, just hope they work OK with the MM, I get some coging with the Feiago and if it gets much worse it wont be acceptable.

Hot Bodies Lightning 2 Pro carbon, Mega 22/30/2, MMM, 4s3-5Ah.
Tamiya F201 carbon, Mamba 7700, MM, 2s A123 2.3ah.
Xray XT8, 1518, MMM, 4s5Ah.
Lots of boats.

I run a 7xl/mm combo on 4s in my tower terror conversion, and an 8xl/mm on 4s in my slipperential revo. Both work fine, do not run hot either. They are both geared for about 40mph.
