I need the screw on end bell for a Lehner basic - 05.02.2007, 08:27 PM

One of my Lehner basic XL motors has all 4 screw holes stripped out. I contacted BK and they tell me it costs $40 + shipping(from Germany) for a new one:confused:. Not only that, we all know how long it takes to order something from the BK site(especially when it comes to Lehner stuff), who knows when I'd get the thing. Does anybody have a burned up Lehner Basic or Basic XL motor they could sell me? One with at least 2 good apposing screw holes.

Would probably cost as much for the tool as it would to buy a new end bell. If I was to do this where would be a good place to get the tool to re-tap it?

Harbor Freight is the best place for tools at a good price. A complete set of taps was only $12 a few months ago. Cheap, I know, but for what it would be used for (tapping solf metals and plastics) it will more than suffice.

Thanks for the tip squee. gixxer just hooked me up with a replacement end bell so I'm good to go. For $12 I think I'll pick up a set of taps anyways so I have them for next time.

Tower has a nice looking set of smaller taps that come with the proper size drill bits to use before tapping the hole.

The tool department at our local Sears has a decent metric tap kit that I picked up.
Since there's not a Harbor Freight around.

BTW, BK isn't the distributor for Lehner anymore.

Lehner refers us to Hydro&Marine

All German though!

Outstanding news. BK can now officially die and burn in hell for the misery they've put us threw.
