i was wondering if it is ok to charger 4 six cell pack s on the mrc 989 in searies when they are balneced and i need a lot of opinons to convinse my dad that is why i put it in this section

Can the 989 charge 24 cells at once? If so, then I don't see why not. However, they should also have the same number of runs and should have very close to the same charge level on each pack.

I'd only charge them in series if I ran them in series and all the stuff that Brian said.

You can't charge them all at once, because the 989 won't charge a 'pack' that reads a higher voltage than it's power supply.

I just looked it up and the 989 can charge up to 25 NiMH cells at once in series. Four 6-cell packs is only 24 cells. Most (if not all) high cell count chargers utilize a switching power supply to convert 12v DC to whatever it needs to charge the cell count you have.
