How about a lehner -
05.05.2007, 12:13 AM
OK Guys i was browsing bpp.com and came across mini Lehner motors. i did not know they made such a thing. The Lehners description said it works well in the mini t, 18t, and so on. I was wondering if these "little" Lehners where any good because they are quite a bit more than the other micro Brushless motors. i will be using this in a 18t and i was going to go with the mamba 8000, but do you guys think this would be a better motor, and in what terms. Like cool runnings, efficiency, speed, reliability, smoothness. what do you guys think. Thanks (BTW this will be going in a 18t) heres the link

I've heard they are ridiculous powerful for their size. But.... the mini truck drive trains cant handle the mamba motors and how could you possible use more power than they already have. Cool for the brushless geeks like us, but not really very useful IMO.
I can't decide if its more fun

or break it...

2s or 3s?
Id say get the 5400kv and go 3s for the ultimate power. If thats not enough power then there is something wrong. If you really want the Lehner go for it, you can't go wrong thats for sure. I'd never push anyone away from quality, but... For the minis, the mamba motors seem to me to be MORE than enough.

I honestly don't think its worth it to put a Lehner in this little thing. My 6800 on 3S in my 18T is just stupid... at 1/4 throttle all 4 wheels are lit up...at least its tought me how to drift...

I also don't think it's worth it to spend that kind of money on a motor for an 18th scale vehicle. The mamba motors, bpp wraith and AON 4900 are all more than enough power for an 18t. Anything more than that and you'll likely never keep the front wheels on the ground, which is already a problem with my Mamba 6800 powered 18t.

in terms of 'ideal range' the mini's seem to have a league on their own.. the 30-35000 rpm range makes no sense on them.
I used the 8K on 3S in my mini-t, and the motor stayed cool (if not cold) somehow the huge power reserve made me drive it at a few percent of the total powerband. the few seconds it drove at full WOT it was launched, whieelied, cartwheeled and landed on the moon.. (in that order) but the motor was cold..

Mamba 8000 on 3S in Asso RC18T is totally stupid
my GH4700 on 3S in miniquake is stupid as well but not as the mamba :)
any $50 brushless motor is stupid in 1/18 :)
I love destroying my miniQuake :) poor truck

i was actually not going for speed on this one the only reason i was thinking Lehner is for quality and the cool factor of having a good brushless micro that is not a mamba or tekin (being different and drawing heads). for the mini i was just going to use a 6C pack and just wanted to know if this motor would be more reliable and such, but if the only difference between this and a mamba is power then it is really not worth the extra money. Also do you think this motor would be easer on the esc than the mamba. because the quark 22a with mamba seems to get knidof hot on 6c during a race.

If your fri a mamba motor you can buy 2 more before you pay for the Lehner. I wouldnt worry about it.

On top of the whole "buy 2 more Mamba's before the cost of a Lehner," Castle will probably warranty your motor and give you a new one if you fry it when its running in a reasonable operating range and its not old enough to suggest wear and tear was the reason it failed. Since Lehner is in Germany, you will be lucky to get the motor back within a few months, if they warranty it.
So, the Mamba's are really the way to go.
